    Hi All,

New here, but not new to bikes :thumb_ups:

Have owned a few over the years, the highlight being an '89 KR-1S that I rebuilt about 19 years ago (and regretfully sold, looking at what they're worth now).....

    Loved that bike :)

I've just purchased a new winter project.

She is a bit rough round the edges, fairings look good in the pics but in reality they're knackered.

Looking forward to delving into the rebuild & I expect to find issues....
I'll be rebuilding the carbs, converting it to a mosfet RR, new fairings, tyres, brakes etc, etc.

Not sure how legit that 43,000km is - will do a comp test shortly & see where she's at.

Glad to have found this fantastic forum! Such an awesome resource for someone like me - I think I've read almost all of the ZXR related threads already :)

I'll get a build thread going once I make a start on her.

(I've chatted to the other member who was going to buy this bike - beat him to it without knowing anyone else had looked at it - the Gumtree Ad was only live for an hour before I found it)

Welcome Rossco. Let me know if you find a Mosfet R/R kit for the ZXR.

    Try roadstercycle.com

Also, Shindengen FH020AA reg/recs are an OEM part on some triumphs, street triples mainly, if you have any wreckers nearby.

    Well interesting evening.....

    A few things:
The timing chain has damaged the rocker cover at some stage & someone has resealed it with epoxy putty :( (I'll tig it or replace it)
The carbs need rebuilding - she will not run at all. (have spark & decent compression)
The petcock is er um cocked - leaking externally & still free flows fuel in the on position with no vacuum applied.
Starter solenoid is hit & miss - will replace it.

    Good news:
    all the lights work :D
