Hi ! New here. Been riding for about 8 months now on my Ls. Feeling very overdue to book the MOST test whoops! First bike was a little sachs 125 madass. I have never driven a car, nor rode dirt bikes before getting my bike ls. To be honest i didn't even choose the sachs it was just unused but registered and sitting in my driveway so I bought it for cheap off my flat mate and had fun learning some road craft on it for a month or 2. It is a real feather weight bike, so nice for a derpy learner like me. I did take it on the m4 for my daily commute which was just crazy. Any lane changing would be hugely mentally taxing as the bike really didn't have the power to safely move with the traffic. So i was very happy to upgrade my commuter to a kwak er5. Not the coolest bike out there but she does her job well. Torquey parallel twin with an upright lazy riding position. I call her Lady Francis and have no plans to let her go. Next bike an across. I rode it for one fun weekend before it was in an accident My buddy was driving it to the mechanics as a favor to me when a truck pulled out in front of him and the bike low sided. Buddy copped some road rash and a fractured rib, he is healing okay. The across will be back once a few parts are replaced. I do really love riding sports bikes, especially the inline 4s. The across for me is a sports bike that i can ride anywhere and not be afraid to park it any place. Since then I chanced upon a sweet zxr2. Im very excited about this bike. She is in the shop having a carby clean plus tune and service now. I plan for this one to be my track bike (must get Ps! - currently have no racing license) and its only the best for the zx. I really love checking on her each night. Tucking her into her bike blankie. Securing her with a billion chains and locks. *pats the zx* I have also ridden (but not owned) one of those ex250J kwakas, nsr 150, megelli 250r. Very keen to try an aprillia rs 125 now and to try dirt bike riding. Been lurking a bit here. Seems like a really nice forum. Its great to see such passionate people sharing info and helping out their fellow bike enthusiasts Oki peace!
Hi swan ^_^. She forgot to mention a natural talent for making men feel inferior on a motorbike (I seriously can't keep up).
Hehehe Damus you flatter me. Lets hurry up and get on the track so we can get a knee down braaaaaaap!
Hello! ooh thanks~ To be honest the paint work leaves a bit to be desired. She was resprayed yellow when imported in 2002 but they did not use fuel resistant paint. Previous owner got a bit splashy at the petrol station and the bike is left with chipped bubbly paint on the tank. But if you just stay a few meters away and squint your eyes and she's a real beauty hahahaha I didnt choose her for the paint job though so no complaints from me. She has been garaged for the past 6 years too which is nice to know.
I will be at the track soon, like a bad smell, ya'll won't be able to get rid of me. Need to do a bit of research and work track-readying the zx, get my Ps, then good to go.
thanks The family thinks i am nuts. Broken phone, broken laptop, live in a loungeroom. But bikes bikes bikes!!! I'm happy with this life choice hehe Your collection looks awesome. How do you find the Aprillia? @kiffsta
to the community We thrive on photos here ..... Next step is to spend money on tools not mechanics and do this yourself .... once u get into it u realize its not that difficult ..... plenty of help and info right here
Photos aye? Damus might be kind enough to snap a profile shot tomorrow ^.^ RE: not paying mechanics ahhhhh that would be so great. I'm not having much luck with them at the moment. I ask for one thing, they do another - grrr. Anyway, best I don't get too fired up on it. I am going to collect the ZX (her name: Bumbles / the Bee) tomorrow so I shall ask for the invoice and see what work they did. I am partly to blame really, Damus has offered to take a stab at looking after the Bee for me but I am being a bit of a princess about her and was happy to find a mechanic who had previously worked at a kwaka workshop and knew the bike. Also with Damus and I both working full time, not being able to pillion each other and living WAY over an hour apart by public transport I took the more convenient (but expensive and frequently irritating) option of using a mechanic. These guys had the across for a full week after the accident and they just tried to convince me it was a write off. Then I was asked no less than four times by their staff what I was planning to do with it. I almost suspect they were trying to get it off me cheap and wreck it for parts. The damage? Scuffed fairings - not cracked, broken foot peg, brake pedal and indicator. The good news is that they have finished working on the Bee. They rang me today but didn't have the invoice ready hence I collect her tomorrow instead. I'm tripping over my moon boots in excitement
Eating my words now as I'm very happy with the job the mechanic did. Its exactly what we discussed. Woohooo!!!
