Well i did. Story goes like this...

Was riding home and came out of a roundabout then straight into a left handed corner to go onto the highway. Was doing about 50 kays give or take.

As i turned left into the corner i realised the corner was sharper than i had anticipated, so not panicking i simply leant further over, it was no biggie. Well while looking ahead and seeing the corner i failed to realise that right on the point where i began turning, the surface of the road changed... I didn't have any warning or chance to save it.

Next thing i know I'm on my side, the left side of my helmet hit the ground while the inside of my left knee and inside of left shoe dragged across the road (think awkward backward curled up ball position). I see in front of me my right hand outstretched as it just came off the handlebar and hear the bike rev hard for a second (back wheel left ground, still on throttle).

I slid on my left knee for 8-10 meters before i lept to my feet (while still sliding) and spun around to see the car behind me stop and ask if i was ok "yeah i'm um sweet" i replied, stunned.

The bike had slid around 12 meters, across the road on its left side, hit the dirt bank, flipped up onto the right side (so that side slammed into the bank) then it fell back onto its left side, dropping down a bit on the bank and into a small concrete drain/ditch thing.

I ran over to it, got it into first and rode it out, up the road a little bit to somewhere safe to leave it. Oil was spitting out the side and coolant was pouring out but it was only running for 20 seconds and i had to get it out of the way.

Well after a quick inspection I found the damage (hopefully all of it). I saw: broken and bent levers (brake and clutch) the right clip on was bent in (but that should just turn back out), quite big dent in the exhaust, right fairing has seen much better days, the left cover thing that hangs out of the left fairing was scratched through (why oil was coming out, and does anyone know the name for this so i can look for the part), the coolant pipe that goes through that bulge in the fairing was ripped through (why coolant was on the ground) and scratches everywhere. There might be more but thats what i can think of off the top of my head..

Well i was fine, all i had was a scratched and grazed knee, ripped shoes, and a slightly swollen cheek (helmet hitting ground). I'm so glad i had all my gear on (except boots, i had sneakers) otherwise i wouldn't have a knee right now, as it is i have a hole in the draggin jeans from where i slid on it and i didn't even realise my head hit the ground until i saw my cheek swollen and saw the gashes in my helmet.

Thanks for reading my story, I've had so little luck with this bike but eh, i'll repair it and ride again.

Be safe guys

ohhh dude i feel your pain man .... poor fizzer its not been long since i dropped my bike too. i bet you didn't have crash bungs either. i never ride my fizzers with out them anymore. come to think of it i don't know why all bikes don't have them stock standard from the factory? you did the same thing as me tho. the metal engine cover on the left hand side that you ground through is where the starter motor gear sprocket connects to some other gear which turns the engine over on start up, you might need a gasket with that to. trouble is where im from (new Zealand) its a hard part to find on its own 2nd hand but if you get it from Yamaha which i eventually had to bite the bullet and do it stung me . . . . wait for it . . . . $145!! then 2 months later i find someone put a whole engine on trade me(NZ eBay equivalent) for $200 so that really pissed me off!!
did your brake and clutch lever have cut marks in them cos that sometimes saves wrenching the attachment mechanisms causing further damage sometimes.
one good thing bout crashing in raggaty old sneakers is there easily and cheaply replaced. well at least you got some battle scars to show off. o boy here comes the repair bill now i can hear it.
ride on dude

Hi

I have some parts you may be interested in?

I have a clutch lever and the side cover on the engine which hides the started motor sprockets. it's a little scratched but came out of a working engine with no leaks and gasket seems to be ok.

let me know what location your in

Spot on Trev... if you go there you can see the scratch marks from my bike and i'd say there would still be a indent in the side of the bank unless its rained.. I just find it funny you knew which one it was. Yeah caught me by surprise...

Sniper I'll send you a PM, sounds good.

AS soon as you said left hand from round-a-bout onto highway I knew where it was, corner is even sketchy in a car.

I feel a bit for you Metoo. I came off my FZR under heavy braking when I hit a damp patch on the road. I don't remember the bit where I fell off, just the braking hard and then sliding along the road.

Your bike will fix, and luckily you are ok.
