    Hey guys and gals..

This question has probably been asked a few times but I'm after a 250. I'm w complete noob when it comes to the 2 wheel variety.

Basically, what would you recommend? I would say $4500 is about my max. Priorities would be good on fuel, easy to maintain and preferrably be a sport bike as I like the look of em.

CBR250R seems to be a fairly common search result as well as Daelim, Megelli, Kawa's etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Cheers

    Ace

    Hey Ace

Welcome to the forum,  there are so many models to choose from, I guess it really  comes down to new verses old and everything in between. The challenge with finding a bike is that you need to sit on them and work out what feels right rather than browsing pictures and buying on looks alone, other factors to considor are your height and reach as you may find a sweet looking bike n-line or ina magazine, but it might not feel comfortable when riding it. I was guilty of this as I bught a CBR250RR as my first bike without riding it, I just chose it from pics on the web.

For new bikes, $4500 probably wont cut it unless its chinese made, generally new bikes start at 5k and go up from there. My pick of the newer style bikes are the Daelim VJF250 (single cylinder) and the Kawasaki 250R (Paralell twin cylinder) and finally the new Honda CBR250R (single cylinder), all 3 get favourable reviews and are sharp lookers to boot.

My advice would be to set some time aside ona Saturday morning and hit a few bike shops, I would try and take someone with you with some riding experience who can help you with your search.

if you are buying 2nd hand, please read this thread - http://2fiftycc.com/http://www.2fiftycc.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=433#p433

    Good Luck

Thanks very much for the reply. One thing is for sure there is plenty to chose from!
I will take your advice and have a look around a couple of shops, something to do this weekend actually.

I have been reading about the Daelim VJF250. So far it has good reviews and can be had for my price range. Being a new guy on the scene, reviews are few and far between.

    Thanks

    Hey Ace

We have a couple of Daelim owners on here, you could try sending WeapadyWeps a Personal Message as he has one and ask him for his feedback on it

    thanks
