fantastic, learn defensive riding, use mirrors and blinkers. why.... just saw an l plater in newcastle do none of these. could be a temporary rider.
all good mate thanks for your concern Can some one tell me if its safe to try to start a zxr 250 that not has been started for 5 months as Im looking at buying one. Also I need pics of left hand side of a zxr 250 C4 frame please
check oil and other liquids, put in top gear and push to see if motor turns over. if it turns should be ok. if battery shot look at motobatt as i find them good.check tyres for cracks and check brake pad thickness.if all good put in nuetral and wind over. if any problems do not rev. if strange noises turn off straight away.
Hey Kds1 Sounds like risky has got you on the right track. Carbs are usually the main culprit when a bike has been sitting, sadly fuel does have a shelf life and bikes that sit for extended period generally suffer. So clean carbs, a good spark and it should start. The question to ask is this, why has it been off the road for 5 months, judge the response accordingly as there could be unforseen problems generally not mentioned by the seller. Get as much info as you can, after all you are parting with your hard earned cash and don't really want any major issue if you can avoid it. Good luck
forgot to add.. e10 fuel is crap so use premium fuel. costs a bit more but does not corrode rubber or alloy. the ethanol absorbs water and that turns to jelly in the carby.
cheers phil..... guy seems genuine he has 4 other projects on the go and the reason it is off the road is he brought gsxr 600 2000 + model he even signed a witnessed agrement of sale staiting what was wrong with it. he also put 6 months rego on it so will pick it up in 3 weeks il keep ya posted.
Hey Kds1 If it hasn't been started in 5 months, I would assume its okay and not seized, if you want to be cautious then remove the plugs a pour a teaspoon of oil down each barrel... then let it sit for a few days, then try the starter with the plugs out , the carbs will need a good clean and your tank will need to be drained and clean fuel run through it. I would have a good look at your brakes and replace the brake fluid as it can go bad if it sits for long periods. I would replace the oil, plugs and filter for good measure. Why do you need a pic of the frame ? Good luck with it, keep us in the loop !
thanks for help kiffsta. i just wanted to check the frame welds but its all good found pics online. by the way nice zxr same as the one im buying iv got green wheels check my avatar photo.
