An old friend touched base recently via the forum, we were neighbours for several years and when we moved we kind of lost contact. Long story short he's coming around tomorrow to talk "BIKES" He recently obtained his motor bike license and wants some advise on what to get. So today I popped into Yamaha dealer to discuss and peruse the new R3. A most impressive bit of kit, in all honesty I really liked it. Alas I am unable to ride at the moment so it was "look only"...BUGGER!! Spoke with the salesman at length and came away thinking if I were in the market for a LAMS bike....this could be it. My next port of call was the Kawasaki dealer. Had a good look over the Ninja 300....also a fine bit of kit. Although similar capacity (cc) the Kawasaki has some good equipment on board and really it will come down to what my friend wants for his 1st motorcycle. My advise will be.....take each bike for a good ride, get the feel of each bike before making any decision. Many things to talk about and look at. He's starting from scratch so he has to invest in everything....jacket ,gloves, helmet, foot ware.... insurance and the list goes on. Kind of looking forward to tomorrow, catching with an old mate is great and throwing motorcycles in assures me of a great day.
Just an update of my meeting with my friend David. Went really well, after all these years. We spent a good 2 hours chatting about motorcycles in general and was pleased to share some knowledge gained over the years with Dave. He was interested in what I'd found out about the Yamaha R3 and the Kawasaki Z300. We covered everything I could think he may need with the purchase of a new bike. My final words to him were..."go take them for a test ride and see what fits your needs". He did exactly that. Over the ensuing 2 weeks I have gotten several text messages from Dave, just checking on a few things. Last night got a text: Have put a deposit down on a Kawasaki Z300 which I pick up Saturday. Total price $5995.00 driveaway For a first bike....think he's done well. Got a friend to go ridding with...that's even better
Got a message from my friend Dave wanting to stop by and show me his new bike. I was impressed with the Z300 but more to the point Dave was wrapped. Well he has all the good gear I showed Dave how the rear stand works, now he wants one For a first bike and all the stuff that goes with it, Dave..."you've done very well" Next we have to make a time to go for a ride. Well done mate.
Awesome choice.. I love the Zed's so I am jealous! Best part of it is that he's picked something that suits him, well done.
