So, I got my bike on the road. All is good mechanically, but I don't think I like particularly the position of the footpegs. I'd like them more towards the rear end of the bike. 5cm at least would be nice. Is there an adjustable rearset someone was able to fit to the FZR250?

    Thanks

Possibly jerry rig the back sets onto the front?

Also tried measuring the distances between the holes and seeing if any rearsets in store match up??

    EDIT: Better yet-

The part numbers for the rider's footpeg brackets were 46X-27442-01 (left) and 46X-27443 (right) for the 3LN1 & 3; these were superceded to 3HE-27442-00 and 3HE-27443-00.

These p/ns were used on the FZR400 and 600, and the FZ600. So basically, any rearset designed for any of those bikes will fit the FZR250

Thanks Don, that should be easy then. Off to my FZR400 buddy who races them, just to see what kind he's got on.

Not bad looking, have to check on the mounting holes distance. The guy's postage is out of this world though ....

Not that bad, considering they take weight into consideration most times.

It's not that heavy. all Alu alloy ....

Anyways, I spoke to a friend of mine who races FZR400 and he just machined an adapter plate. Dirt cheap and very functional. Probably will go that route, unless I can come across dirt cheap rearsets shipped to my door.

So I started to look a bit closer to the rearsets and I personally don't think it will be as easy as it might have appeared at the beginning. I was thinking that for the pegs to be in the right position it will take about 3-4" move backwards. The left side would be OK as long as I stay away from the swingarm (and a new shifter rod, longer that is), but the right side is definitely more cramped due to the routing of the exhaust which I had no plan of touching.

So as far as the mounting holes, yes 400/600 could be used, but I don't see how they would really fit due to the above.

    Any thoughts?

ps. BTW I have an access to a reasonably equipped machine shop, so I was thinking to machine a plate which would put the stock triangular plates a bit backwards, but I still face the same issues as described above.

    Re route the exhaust maybe?

    3-4" is a lot - you were originally suggesting 5cm, now you're talking 10.

Most rearsets aren't just back, but up as well. Does this help the positioning?

When I put great long rearsets on my TZ, I had to space them out about 1/2". Have you considered this?

Well, yeah, but that was before I actually started looking into it closely. The ergonomics on this bike are really wrong for a sportbike. Buddy of mine made a fererence to me that Yamaha got it wrong on this bike and also on some years of FZR1000. The sweet spot for sportbikes is around half distance of your seat. That is where the pegs should be and if you look at vast majority of sportbikes that were they are. Not on FZR250 they cramped basically at the end of the tank, way tooo much in the front. Hence me having to go more than 2". I need to double that to make it a worthwhile excercise.

Would I go higher with the pegs? Not really, because my legs would be even more cramped. I am 5'10" and with the low stock seat position it would be unbearable. I will be raising the seat and reshaping a bit. It just points too much downwards. This will be done whether I do anything with the pegs or not, so I don't want to loose the inch of a build up I am planning. But I might have to .....

Not on the list of prefered activities .... it would be the last resort. if it comes to that I'd probably just leave the pegs they are.

Take a look at these, I was seriously considering a set. They are quite reasonably priced IMHO.

They look nice, but .... the question is would they fit the 250 and do they move the peg up and backwards. The mounting holes would I am sure fit, but it's not just that. If you read above, there's all kinds of issues if you go outside of the stock placement, which is a must to fix the seat - footpegs geometry a bit.
