Have recently purchased zxr 250c 90 model import. runs like a bag of **** at the moment! havin to go over the whole bike! pulled carbies apart to find they were filthy but also the outside 2 carbies have 125 size main jets and the middle 2 carbies have 128's in them! Is this normal? Should they all be the same size?
Hey Emu-74 I have a 91 Kawasaki ZXR250c, standard jets are 122's on the outside 1 and 125's on the middle 2. Your mixture screws should be approximately 2.5 turns out. I had massive issues with my carbies, a dead spot between 4000 and 8000 rpm, then it would come good , turns out the T piece seals had perished and was letting in air. I replaced those seals ( impossible to get from Kawasaki) with some froma lcoal seal place and all was well. The reason they use bigger jets on the middle pots is to keep the cylinders cooler with more fuel. Your setup should be okay, your bike will run a tad rich but they do like that  ( unless your jets are majorally worn) Cheers Chris
i would say yes as the middle 2 cylinders will normall have larger jets as they Will run a bit leaner because of the heat in the centre of the motor stops it detonation and your pistons exploding out of your exhaust pipe also what exhaust you running as that may aslo account for the jet size and where the bike was imported from hope this helps also make sure you clean the carbs well the pilots jets and galleries need to be spotless main jets only account for the final part of yr throttle openings
Thanks guys! Makes sense! From my first ride it has the same sluggishness between 4000 and 8000rpm! will check the T piece seals. Where is a good place to get parts if needed? I'm in Bundaberg QLD and parts r expensive here! Bought new front discs for $235 delivered( for both) from hong kong and was quoted 400 plus form here! Cheers
This is the seal that was gone on mine. I bought my seals from Seal imports, take your old ones off, send them the size ( specify that its a petrol seal) http://www.sealimports.com.au/ The had the right diameter, but not the width, so I used 2 seals together... worked a treat Chris
thanks guys for the help on the carbies! have sorted them and sourced orings from melbourne via perth( mechanic at causeway kawasaki(perth wa) knew where to get them) and sent back to bundaberg qld!!!!!! anyway redoing the whole bike due to bolts loose and missing!!!! and needed new front discs, bought some from japan and they are the right ones but when they are on and back in the bike, there isnt enough space between discs and caliper mountings to put the calipers back on! disc that were on it were almost flat where as the discs i got and have research have the 13.5 mm offset! thinking someone might have put a different front wheel on it!!!! does anyone know what width the front wheel centre should be? this bike seems to be becoming more of a mission!!!
hey kiffsta, just wondering if u have had a chance to measure the front wheel yet and also is there suppose to be a rubber gasket on each of the carbies between the carbies and the airbox? cheers
Hey Emu74, yes there should be rubber gaskets between the carbies and the airbox, they are hard to find, try these guys www.bikepartssydney.com.au I measured the front wheel with the disks on and If I measure from the inside of the disk to the inside of the other disk using verniers, the gap should be 110mm. According to the Metal Gear website, the offset of the disk is 7.5mm http://metalgear.com.au/mgear-brake-disc-front-leftright-p-6316.html Its hard to measure the wheel on the bike, but it should look like like the attached pic. Cheers Chris
cheers chris, looks like the front wheel is the the correct one for the bike! which means the discs are the wrong ones!!!!! they have 13.5mm offset and the wheel centre is 110 mm disc to disc. thanks for all your help. will get new ones from metal gear. does anyone know what the discs i have might be off?
looks like the discs are off the 90 model A series! if anyone knows of anyone needing a set they are for sale! brand new and unmarked!
