Ok FZR crew... here's the plan; this is all just my usual expression of interest at the moment and it'll get more solidified depending on who, what, and when.

What: An overnight ride, call it a mini twisty-trek.
When: 18th & 19th February
Where: Wilsons Prom & beyond

Why: Well i've been getting a little bored with all my usual haunts, and after looking through a Motorcycle Atlas i reckon there's some good adventures to be had a little further out from town, which means either an ass-numbing 700km day, or a 2 day ride & camp effort which i reckon sounds like a bit of fun. After all, i missed out on camping up at the Murray this year.

The plan would be to load up with the bare minimum but still touring style and meet somewhere Eastern suburbs way (Cranbourne?) then head out through my usual Poowong, Korumburra, Leongatha twisties. Then keep heading down through Cowes and along the coast following the interesting bits and stopping where ever we feel like it. It's not going to be a bullet run but the pace will be 'adequete' where the roads favour it. Aside from that it'll be touring speed limits all the way.

Getting down to Wilsons Prom and setting up camp at about 5pm would give us enough time to go for a ride around the area before dark, although i've been warned of the wildlife coming out at that hour so might best avoid it and get some camp fire action happening.

Following day we pack up, and head out through Yarram and up into Traralgon... then back down through Morwell, Churchill, Yinnar, Mirboo (Nth) then back in through Warragul, down to Korumburra and back in through Cranbourne. If we're feeling game we might go up the other way and do Icy Creek Rd and some of the Noojee State Forest but that depends on how much my backside and wrists are complaining.

So? Anyone interested in a bit of a fun weekend?
I'm likely to get my ass kicked by my other half for organising this but this is partly in retaliation for her organising a 'girls night' then expecting me to drive them around and chaperone (not necessarily a bad thing ).

Who: At the moment it looks like...
Me (FZR1000)
Outlore (VFR750 ex. TBone's bike)
Tenoq (ZX9R),
Scorpion (FZR250 2KR freshly resprayed & bling!)
??? (CBR250R/RR) --> sorry i don't know his nickname

If your interested or have some decent suggestions then post here and i'll see what we can organise. I know it's a bit of a last minute thing, but for me... over a week in advance is a LONG way ahead!

Bugger!

Sounds like a fun ride but I'm busy that weekend. If the plans change to a week or two later I'll definately be a maybe.

Ah well.

Your trip sounds interesting - what are the roads like out that way? we have some terrific bike roads here. I have been regularly doing 200k every 2nd weekend here.

The Ulysses MC club is holding a national rally in Tas next month. The police are expecting around 10,000 bikes for the event and its going to be a logistics nightmare.

If I recall correctly there are about 10,000 registered bikes in Tas.

I suppose there will be a few day tours organised but I can't imagine them all going the same way at the same time.

Well the roads that i've trekked out to are quite fun... and i have had promise of many more lovely unoccupied twisty roads the further out i go - hence my desire to trek out a little further than a single day ride would really afford.

200km's is a short afternoon blat.
Even my usual weekend morning run is ~250km's (Melbourne, Sugarloaf Resevoir, Yarra Glen, Healesville, Chum Creek, Black Spur, then home again).

Yeah, i've heard of quite a few people heading to Tassie for next month but didn't know what was going on. I tend to avoid all those BMW riding Ulysses riders anyway... unpredictable bunch.

You are right, 200k is an easy afernoon ride and generally we have one or two stops for a drink and a (much needed) stretch/rest and it ends up being about 3 to 3-1/2 hour round trip.

I find that I can usually do 200k on a tank of juice, which keeps the cost down as fuel is cheaper at home.

A side benefit is that I am getting aquainted with some roads that I have never been on before and finding them an excellent ride.
