HI Wondering if anyone knows of a mixture adjustment tool supplier that has a small 90 deg height, needs to be no higher than 34mm or 1 1/4 inch.Silly GB honda has the mixture screw over the top of the starter motor a space is tight..All the ones I can find on ebay dont have measurements and/or look to be to large to fit into the gap..... Im talking about something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2FastMot...804052?hash=item2ee0c99994:g:VskAAOSwrklVP8n~
Here's the one I bought. I bought the ratcheting one since the carb adjustments are buried in the ZXR. After all this, it didn't fit the zxr- not deep enough!
I normally use a driver like this with a longer bit in it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-4-Hex-...508439?hash=item360c3c3d57:g:8~QAAOSwo4pYHHp2 Supercheap used to sell a small right angle driver for $2.50 too but i haven't seen them there for a while This comes in handy a lot too
A piece of 3 or 4mm wire, flatten the end with a hammer and bend to suit your carb. May have to make a couple at different angles to get on the screw.
Bunnings have these right angled screwdrivers too https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-3-piece-offset-hex-key-screwdriver-set_p6060188
Wow heaps of Ideas thanks everyone I have a right angled screw driver and a few modded things which allow me to move the screw but with no precision at all, I like to tune by ear DammitLaverty thanks for posting the height of that particular tool have it watched on fleebay, cheapest I could find was $120 au delivered. Didn't want to spend that much if it wasn't going to work...hows the build quality, does it look/feel like a 100+ tool?
I paid 70 US for it only to find it didn't work real well with everything in the way on my bike. It felt good enough to keep it for when I need it someday once the money was spent.
Thanks whilst Im not a wealthy man I do like my tools Every time I complain at my missus about how many wooden spoons and plastic container's she has,she always retorts with "and how many tools do you have"....I can never win with that women
I dont know if either of these would work height wise ? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorcyc...009766?hash=item41942028a6:g:TUoAAOSwstxVJv9p http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blue-Poi...005915?hash=item235a6de15b:g:kd0AAOSw0HVWFM2N What sort of carby/s does it use? I bought one of these to try out on the FZR Mikuni's, they are very close to the original one, just the thread is about 4mm more towards the point http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-color-...736108?hash=item21267e5c2c:g:JeYAAOSwcB5ZFDe7 You can get a remote FlexJet mixture adjuster for a Mikuni VM22 from here that may work too? You'd have to try and cross reference your mixture screw part number or dimensions to see if it's the same https://tboltusa.com/store/flex-jet-p-1063.html
I made this from an old screwdriver ... cut off the long shaft which became the T handle and just ground the head to fit the screws on the FZR carbs
tool finally arrived and worked a treat...looks like Ill have to up the idle jet, then again I also ordered a foam unifilter pod. so Im hoping once I oil it and fit,it will even things out. Also the new filter has no lip on it so should improve airflow near the air ports, which the old pod filter blocked slightly..... Thanks again for the help
