Just a quick question I just realized that my mod plate is pop riveted into the rear fender and with the fender eliminator it will be off.

Can I move it somewhere else? Can it be moved elsewhere on the bike?

    Thanks

It should be riveted to the frame , why would they put it there ?

I thought the same, never seen one that isn't riveted to the frame.

Im no expert on this but I would wonder why its not on the mainframe .... the principal parts that make up a motorcycle are the mainframe and the engine .... which is why they carry any identifying numbers.

That looks like part of the subframe , but still something (the subframe) thats easily removed or changed.

It needs to be moved....whether u can do it or it needs to be done "officially" .... I dont know

OK, now I get the picture. Anyone doing a roadworthy would love it's location as it is very visible and easy to read.
Having said that, I think you must find an area of main frame and rivet it on there, thereby freeing up the rear for whatever you intend doing.
Try keeping the compliance plate in good order, drill a couple of holes and rivet it on, you'll be fine. :thumb_ups:
I know they do not record where the plate has been fastened.

Yea and whoever put it on would have found it very much easier than taking off any covers or cowlings.

Have a look under the covers near the front for the compliance plate and see if it can go there.

Heres what the frame should look like .....

thanks for the info as i would much rather clean up the rear end then look like a dirtbike. lol cheers
And I would think having it with the vin plate would make more sense as they already have to look there.

well I have had an idea at work so I cancelled my universal fender eliminator and what Im going to do is:
Leave the subframe parts coming out
    Leave the standard blinkers on
Remove the hideous black mudflap bit
Get a custom made bracket to fit in-between the subframe spines to hold the license plate and put in some led lighting.

This way I dont have to remove the mod plate, It keeps its retro styling but also gets a cleaner look as it will eliminate alot of the fender atleast.
Just gotta figure it all out now off the paper.
    Thanks

That's alright then, I thought you might have been an American citizen who has come to live in the best country for bike riding. Now with some great weather around it makes it all worthwhile for all the 'spannering' in the shed. :D
