I'm pretty sure someone has discussed this before on this forum, but I couldn't find any information about the Tasmanian Motor Cycle Club. It is the oldest motorcycle club in Australia and the third oldest in the World. Given we have so many forum members from all parts of the World, I thought it might be nice to have a thread dedicated to motorcycle clubs from all parts. So, feel free to post about your club or a club that other forum members might find interesting. This article is 5 years old, but it does a good job of covering the Tasmanian club and its history. https://amcn.com.au/editorial/tasmanian-motorcycle-club/ I am a member of 2 clubs currently. The VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club) and the Honda CB750 (Four) Owners Club of Australia. The CB750 Club has a low profile these days as we have not taken any new members for over 5 years. Like many brand or model specific clubs we began to let people join who had 'other' bikes. This began to annoy some club members and we eventually decided it would be best to stop taking any new members. Not exactly what I would call a good solution, but I don't make the rules. The VJMC is a large club with members all over Australia.
The VJMC is quite sizable, as Frank has already indicated. Membership is north of 2500 Australia wide and growing. Focus is on the preservation, restoration and riding of classic/vintage Japanese motorcycles (15+ years of age). Membership fees are quite reasonable and give you the option to participate in historic vehicle registration schemes in every state/territory. Details can be found here: www.vjmc.org.au You can even register online and there is a mobile phone app available to help you stay in touch with what is going on within the club. There is not a forum as extensive as this one however. Peter.
