Last year I perused a motorcycle, fairly recent model. The bike looked good apart from the seat that was positively atrocious. :o What had the owner done??? As luck would have it, the owner showed up and went on to explain his dilemma with modern seats!
Loved his ride but not the seat as it provided no comfort to him. He recalled the good old days, talking 60 and 70 where seats were level and one could ride in comfort. So I began to see his point and could to a certain degree accept his point of view.
However the look of his transformation did little to persuade me to change.
He assured me it was work in progress, certainly hope he's right.
Got me thinking, is this a valid point. Sat on my Suzuki X7 and rediscovered how comfortable riding could be.
Design of our modern bikes should not preclude comfort, they all appear to suffer to a certain extent of poor or uncomfortable seating.
Curious, do others feel this is a problem. Look forward to your comments

Cant comment too much on modern day riding, especially long distance.

But back in the day (40 yrs ago?) when we rode in our youth I dont remember anyone ever saying the seat was crap or their butt was sore....more likely their head was sore from too much drinking
The bikes we had in those days ranged from Honda 90s,250s,750 4s,Triumph 650s,Ducati 750 GT and probably others that elude my memory  :icon_scratch:

We spent ALOT of time on bikes and many trips........I think the 2 things in our favour were the long "double seat" and we were young and fit
Apart from that as long as we felt cool and looked cool nothing else mattered!

I do remember though that the Ducati 750GT was not built for comfort....it was "hard" all round and vibrated like mad....but it went like stink!
