Good evening. I noticed a couple weeks ago that the petcock was leaking some fuel from one of the small ends which isnt connected to a hose, the one facing right on the picture below. The leak is a constant drop after drop which is much more noticeable when the throttle is opened up and almost non existent when the bike is parked. Is this end of the petcock supposed to be connected to a hose? That is question 1 The bike usually runs smoothly when properly warmed up and throttle response is pretty sharp. BUT sometimes, i would say this happens only when the tank is almost full or almost empty, between 2k rpm and 6k the sound of the bike changes to a rumble as if cylinders weren´t firing simultaneously (sounds like a twin) and a noticeable power loss between those rpms, once 8k is passed the bike starts singing again. When this situation is happening, i should add that when i am not giving it throttle there is a rumbling noise (english isnt my main language) that doesn´t sound right to me. Maybe this has something to do with the fuel leak? Question 2 is this hose or plastic tube supposed to be connected somewhere? Question 3 Would it be safe to assume that my preload is adjusted to setting 6? due to the position of the square dent that i assume is the preload adjuster? (on a scale of 1 to 7, 1 being soft, 7 being hard) As the rear feels very soft, maybe too soft. And last but not least, the air filter box is not connected to any kind of hose or intake, is this normal? My main concerns are the fuel leak from the petcock and power loss (keep in mind the bike runs perfectly 90% of the time) Any kind of input is extremelly appreciated. Thanks for your patience!
Sounds like your petcock diaphragm has failed, the rebuild kits are not cheap @XCite Bikes is the cheapest I have seen - http://www.xcitebikes.com.au/mc22-diaphragm-repair-kit-16950-mv9-023/ New one - http://www.xcitebikes.com.au/16950-mv9-023/ In regards to your miss, check your coil ignition leads, one of my old MC22's had the same problem. Your airbox is fine, that is how its supposed to be Kiff
Hey I opened the petcock diaphragm and the rubber located between the cover and the spring was displaced so it wasnt sealing properly, simple stupid fix, hope its solved. As for the ignition leads i will have a look into that. Trying step by step and limited knowledge to get the bike in great mechanic shape. Thanks again for the reply Kiffsta! Pab
