Been riding around for the past few weeks getting use to what the bike is actually like to ride working properly. I have been trying to decide where to from here, to sell up and buy a bigger bike, or to continue on with the ZXR and commit to restoring/improving the rest of the bike.

With longer rides I am finding and slowly fixing small issues. The throttle kept tightening itself when I was riding due to the adjuster at the throttle not being locked off properly :headbang:. The chain was too loose and needed to adjust the clutch cable etc.etc.

Went to replace the CAM chain tensioner. 10 points to whoever can see why I was so surprised when I removed a cam chain tensioner from a spare engine that came out looking like this.

    CCT.jpg

I can confidently say I am sticking with this project. Went for an awesome ride in the hinterlands on Saturday and have never enjoyed a bike so much before.

Going to sort out the cosmetic situation next, after having to angle grind a faring bolt the other day to get it out I ordered a fairing bolt replacement kit. Also looking at 2 options at the moment (as far as cosmetics go)
    1. A repair and repaint of the OEM fairings, going to set me back $1000 + dollars
    2. Replace the fairings with Chinese aftermarket fairings and paint appropriately from there
Still getting final quotes from AceofSprays and checking out a set of aftermarket fairings; Either going to stick with the original look (note there's actually quite a lot of faring damage, hard to see in photos):

    Original.jpg

Or I found this style which I really like as well

    ZXR250 PAINT.jpg

    Decisions, decisions :help:

Also just ordered a Tyga exhaust :D. Followed the family car the other day and they said they couldn't even hear the bike! In my books that's a perfect excuse to buy a louder exhaust :dance2:

I hope that wasn't the tensioner in you're current engine? Was that the engine you had soo much trouble with?

Na wasn't from current engine. Yep from the one that gave me trouble, lucky it didn't do some serious damage, being upside down and all!

Yep. Perhaps it was put back in like that when the chain was done, either that or it came out like that and was just put back in the "same way"?

Lets be honest, everything on a bike is a challenge at some stage.
A squeeze it certainly will be.
    Your exhaust looks.....awesome

Love the pipe mate. Cant use a socket gotta use a spanner its tedious but easy. Just make sure you set it before putting it in and you'll be golden

    Quick review after one ride.

Sound is purely awesome. Once you get over about 14500 rpm the scream you get from the engine sounds pretty much the same as the original muffler, just louder.

Unsure if it's actually technically legal though, would be interested to do a sound test and find out :)

The revs you need when checking is 3800 or something stupidly low so it probably is legal. I found it once but couldn't find it again on the TMR website
