    Here she is
    [IMG]
Bought her a couple of months back on a pretty big gamble. Previous owner had trouble with carbs flooding and put a secondhand set on it, and when i looked at it the chain was off as the link had broken while he was riding it and he decided to sell it. So knowing the carbs still weren't perfect and not being able to turn it over as the battery was flat, i made an offer and home she came.

After charging the battery it still didn't want to turn over so i tried a screwdriver on the solenoid and nothing, just sparks. Pulling the starter revealed it was seized, after a bit of playing around i managed to get it apart and it turned out one of the magnets had shattered and that was stopping it from turning. After cleaning all the magnet shards out and putting it back together it seemed to work ok so it went back in.

Then i drained the 50/50 mix of oil and fuel from the engine. I think the manual petcock and carbs that need some tlc were the cause for that. some fresh oil and fuel and what do you know, she runs.

So now its just tidying up and fixing a few things and hopefully i can get her on the road soon :crazypilot:

Good stuff, if it's been sitting I suggest giving the carbs a good clean :)

Yeah when I found fuel in the oil I thought it was a good idea to go through the carbs. Everything looked pretty good. I think I'll get a Litetek kit for it though. It seems to have a bit of a hanging idle issue

The brand on the pipe is danmoto. Sounds pretty good

hanging idle could mean its running lean on the pilot jets you could try upping the pilot screws. I cant say enough good words about the Litetek seal kit it took away the bogging down between 6-8k rpm issue i had with my bike ;)

Might be a bit far for me to ride from Mt Isa. Sounds like a great event though

Thanks for the welcome. This forum really is well run, my hat goes off to the mods :thumb_ups:

I'm just glad it was a seized starter and not the engine

Well, here's where the trouble starts :idk: If you take a look at the first picture you will see a gap between the seat and the fairing. The bike didn't/still doesn't, have the bracket for the back of the tank/front of the seat on there. I thought I just needed to put the bracket on to get that sorted but it appears I may have the wrong seat
    [IMG]
I think this is from an A model. Hopefully some one can tell just by looking at it but it doesn't sit down properly and is hard up against the tank. I guess I'm in need of a seat if someone has one?

I also picked up the sport demons I ordered and fitted them up. One step closer:neo:

Thanks huntsman. At least I know that's the problem now. I guess I just need to find a decent seat. Ordered a Litetek kit too. Slowly but surely

Thanks for the lead :thumb_ups: I'll try kiffsta first and see what he says. If not than I'll try them. I wonder where this seat came from? The sharpie makes me think wrecked but surely they'd be smart enough to check the model.

I guess I should have known. The Kawasaki stickers on the tank were painted over. If he didn't have time to take off the stickers before painting the tank then I'm worried what this poor bike has been through. It's a shame too as the color is quite nice, there's a grey flake over the black.
