As stated i'm looking for a temporary oil for my bike, it wont be ridden with, it's just to start the bike every week or two for the next 6-12 months while i wait to get my bike L's. I had a read of the diesel oil thread and like the idea of giving the internals a good clean, but dont want to hurt the clutch plates or suffer any other consequences of using the wrong oil. So was hoping someone could shed some light on this, also i'm a complete cheapskate so keep that in mind. Cheers

The Penrite motorbike oils are good and not too expensive... Otherwise you can get the Delo 400 multigrade oil (not just for diesel) in 20l drums like we did for $114 (greyimport, Linkin & myself) which is brilliant....

Ok and does it matter between mineral, synthetic and semi synthetic?

As long as the oil does not have friction modifiers, it will be fine.

All right, and what oil weight do these engines need? 10w 40,15w 50?

No specific needs but the thicker the oil, the better it will be in hot temperatures. 10w40 is pretty standard though. Thicker oil is harder to start in the cold

Not really as your only starting occasionally and not doing a lot of miles. However, the higher quality oils tend to last longer too in a static state. If your riding, the semi synthetic, and synthetics are the better oils, but it also depends on how often you change it as well.... So in general... go for the better semi synth, and synth... (however fully synths cost more).
