    Hello all,

Just picked up my '88 2KR today. Had to tow it home as the alternator is not charging and it won't run with a flat battery. Not happy. I suspect I got conned here.
Anyway, I've got 4 weeks to wait before I can do my pre-learners, so plenty of time to get the bike sorted. And no, I wasn't riding without a licence, my partner was riding it for me.
What I need is some advice on where to shop for parts. In particular, I need the following.
    2 new tyres.
    Chain & sprockets.
    Front mudguard.
Regulator or alternator possibly. Don't know, haven't looked at it yet.
    Gear rack.

    hey welcome to the forums

bikebiz in parramatta is one of the only places that stock parts for the fzr250(that i know of) i tried a yamaha dealer on sunnyholt rd and they didnt have anything...
so because of them being a grey import its hard to find anything

    I'm in St George area.

I'll contact bikebiz for the chain & sprockets, and some rear disc pads; and Silverwater for the front mudguard.

Had a quick look at the electrics, looks like the regulator's shot. Will try my local auto parts place for a generic car one.

Can anybody tell me the name of the piece of fairing behind the back seat. It has the seat lock in it, and wraps around the tail light. Need one of them as well.

I just checked the calendar, and it's actually 2 months before I can do the pre-learners course. Haven't ridden a bike for almost 30 years, so I guess another 8 weeks won't make much difference.

And can anybody suggest a place to get the rims sand-blasted & powder-coated?

    Welcome to the site!

I would call it "the piece of fairing behind the seat with the seat lock in it and wraps around the tail light". So no, I don't know the proper name.

    Go for the polished look instead <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.netrider.net.au/articles/?page=polished_rims">http://www.netrider.net.au/articles/?page=polished_rims</a><!-- m -->
