Hey,
Has anyone ever had any problems when it comes to getting new tyres fitted? Lisa just bought me a new front tyre today, and it had what i thought was the standard size of 100/80-17. When he went to put the new tyre on, he goes, this rim is too wide for that tyre, you need a 110/70-17... Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. On the bright side, on the way home, the tyre feels right at home. It effortlessly tips into corners quickly but surely, something that the old tyre didn't do...
Anybody?

Chris.

That is sort of strange. Do you have a replacement rim on your bike or something? (Pictures look stock). What sort of tires did you get - could it be something with a particular brand?

When i went to get tires I rode to the place initially, so they just had a look at my bike and ordered teh same size tires (Dunlop Arrowmax replacing battlax tires - they were standard size though)

Next thing they will tell you is that you have a 400 not a 250...

p.s. if anyone wants to know or are unsure about the standard size for the 250 have a look at attachments/ownerhb/PAGE10.JPG

Hey,

I have just got Bridgestone BT45's on it. The bloke said that the rim is 2.75inches wide, and the widest he'd put a 100 section tyre on is 2.5inches . And yes, my wheels are stock. He also said that when my rear is ready to be replaced, the width of that rim is wide enough to take a 140 section tyre instead of the 130, but I can't remember how wide he said the rear rim was.
But yes, I would have thought that the manufacturers specs were correct, but here is a Dunlop website for tyres for bikes, and it says the FZR takes a 110 section front aswell. The Link is http://www.dunloptyres.co.uk/bikeDB/flash/index.html

No idea.. when I replaced both front and back tyres, I just used the dimensions from the site (which matched up with the originals on there) I believe the 2 main brands for that size are the battle axes and the dunlops.

stranger still. I guess whatever works though! It (dunlop site) does say rear tire being a 130 too - I wonder if that is for the 2kr or 3ln as it only gives the date as 'from 1989'. (and the 2kr has a smaller rear rim)

Yeah, the rear tyre is correct for a 3LN model, coz thats the size tyre I've got on mine now. I've got a Dunlop rear tyre (130) and a Bridgestone front tyre (110) on at the moment... Just looking for ideas really. Plus, I always thought the 100 section tyre looked funny on my wheel, like it didn't look round, if you know what I mean.
