Hi guys. New member here. Just picked up a project, 84' GSX 250. Trying to get her running but can not get a spark.
New plugs. Coils from working bike. CDI from working bike. The only thing I can think of is the signal generator. Can anyone provide me with correct resistance?

Is it sparking when an earthed plug is connected to the HT lead from the coils (outside of the engine)? you have to have the end of the plug resting on the engine (or another earth point) to test

Yep, I tried that and no luck.
Manual states the resistance of signal generator should be 60to 80 ohms (I think don't have it with me ATM) but when measured I'm getting around 360 ohms. The thing is that the bike came with a spare parts bike with a seized motor that measures the same
    Coincidence?
    Both shot?
    Wrong info?
    Testing resistance of wrong wires?

Are you testing resistance between the green and brown wires ? Maybe pull the side cover and check the wiring down to the signal generator baseplate

Here are the readings I'm getting

    Brown - green 702 ohms
    Brown - black 357
    Black - green 344

With that much resistance there has to be something touching. Are the wires insulation ok, not trapped under the sidecover or baseplate? Is the rotator touching the coils?

Nothing touching, insulation is all good, nothing trapped. Looks like I might be up for a new one.

    Am I missing something?

Well after a couple of weeks of head scratching I decided to ditch the wiring loom and rewire the bike.
Guess what, a nice bright blue spark!!!! Fairly stoked
Put the plugs back in, a bit of aero start and she lives.
Now I need to think about what direction I want to take with the bike. Might have to put something up in the projects section.

Good to see you got it sorted I'm trying to do the same with my 82 gsx I was wondering if you used an original wiring diagram as a reference and if you know where to get one?

I paid up and downloaded the manual from here. There are two diagrams in this manual a UK and a US one. Mine was UK not sure if all OZ bikes are the same.

I printed this out A3 it was still a bit fuzzy but useable. I Got two highlighters, started at the coils and followed the line. Then start on the other line/ wire and do the same. This makes it a lot easier to follow your positive and negative/ ground and isolate it from the rest of the drawing. Makes it a lot easier to follow.

I think ill have to do the same, I've got the basics of where things are going but I think someone's changed a bit around before me, like my stator has 3 wires going to the r/r but on the diagram it shows one should go to the switch block first. Where did you buy yours from?

"Where did you buy yours from" sorry Elphox91 are you talking manual or loom?

Manual is on here just need to pay $5 I think it was, for access

Loom. I'm starting fresh and will make it myself. It helps that I'm a sparky and this is by far one of the easier things I have to do on the old girl

Thanks Evo, yeah I ment a diagram/ manual, I've had another look and I think I'm starting to work it out, just had to get stuck In and pull it all apart. Gunna try and make up a battery/electrical box this weekend, then it's a little dash, my brothers a sparky I'm trying to get him for a bit of guidance
