    Hey all,

Hard to gauge I know, but do all ZXRs vibrate a little?

I feel like mine always has had some amount of vibration, but since the rebuild V2, I'm worrying over every little noise etc again...

I'm pretty confident my speedo gear thing is clicking a lot too?

Also, as a side note, I noticed if I stall the bike and try to start again, I have to wait a few minutes, but if I just shut it off and start again she goes pretty much straight away?
Not sure if there's some carby magic around that? Or just coincidence.

    Cheers!
    Dano

Speedo clicking is usually a cable that's broken or damaged. Throw a new cable at it.

I had starting issues with my ZXR C model, in the end I think it was a clogged fuel tank breather/drain tube. If I opened the fuel cap it would start instantly after that. So take the cap off and blow out the drain tube with some compressed air.

As for vibrations, my ZXR had a rattle at idle and not under load that I could never get to go away. It wasn't top end, timing chain or tensioner, nor the clutch basket as I put a brand new one in. I balanced the carbs to within an inch of their lives and it made no difference to the noise.

My remaining suspects were the oil pump drive shaft having a broken end (it has a slot cut into it that joins the oil pump. I suspect one half of it had broken.) or the 2nd gear lockout mechanism (ball bearings and springs in one of the gear sets, basically).

Once you put it in gear and engaged the clutch a bit with the front brakes on, the engine was very quiet. But in neutral with no load it would rattle like mad.

    Ah cheers Linkin!

I'll check out the tank breather
To be fair, might be worth resyncing the carbs again too, not a task I look forward too haha

The vibration seems proportional to the revs but hard to remember if its always been the same
