    backfireing...
somtimes when i de-celerate (is that a word) it backfires.
    is this killing my bike?
is it likly to be caused by the rubbish exhaust made of holes?
or is it the exup not being set up right? what way does it go, open or closed when you turn the key and the servo thingy rolls back to start?

and second thing i noticed today i couldnt get over 10k rpm in top gear unless i was already at about about 15k in 5th... never had this problem befor? again maby caused by exaust being wank..

    ideas?
    cheers.

    'Decelerate' is a word.
You are lean on the over-run, not in and of itself a bad thing. If you are sucking in huge amounts of air through perforated headers, you could potentially shock or burn your exhaust valves.
On power-on, the EXUP cycles open (CW), pause, closed (CCW).

    oh right.
well i will get a new exhaust as soon as one turns up.. they are like chicken teeth in england.. lol.
so when i adjust the exup cables i should set it to closed?

i kinda sorted the exhaust... short term. lol. LOTS of exhaust goo and gause.
and the valve cable is just a little bit too long... lame. cant ajust any more and i cant be assed to get it cut and redone again.

*snort* Yeah, I remember the day I did a temp (lasted 9+ months) patch on the muffler on my Dodge - pop can, safety wire, and orange silicone gasket goo... <!-- s:alcoholic: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_all_coholic.gif" alt=":alcoholic:" title="Alcoholic" /><!-- s:alcoholic: -->

For shits and giggles, try swapping your EXUP cables, see if that gets it to co-operate.

Air leaks in the headers will cause popping and backfires in the exhaust on overrun as fresh cold air gets sucked in and ignites any unburnt fuel in the exhaust system. It does not generally cause any damage.
