Sorry to highjack your thread, but I have a ZXR250C and I need some new rings for it and I'm going to try and see if I can use standard size rings and just hone it to get a little more life out of the engine before I buy something newer.

Now I looked at the part numbers and the zxr250 A and C engines list the same parts for pistons and rings so I had a search on aliexpress, and they listed some rings as 48mm and some as 49mm. I assume I need to buy the 49mm rings to suit factory bore (OEM pistons are 48.960-48.975mm) but I'd just like to check with you guys on which ones to get before I make a purchase.

Sorry again for highjacking the thread but this is the most relevant one I could find and you guys seem to have experience with dealing with people from aliexpress.

Actually I might be wrong, looking at things now I think the A has a 48mm bore with a longer stroke whereas the C had a 49mm bore with a shorter stroke. To be honest I have no idea, so if someone could shine a little light on the subject that'd be great!

Go off part numbers. What part number are you referencing?

I don't know the differences between the A and C model, but if the part numbers are the same then the rings will be the same. The japanese don't put tricky secretive twists into part numbers, if they are different things they will have different part numbers.

Going back a step how do you know you need new rings?

if the bore is different surely the rings would be as well.

Hey Hackie, did you ever find those ZXR250A pistons? How where the rings you sourced from Aliexpress? I need both, but never keen on using anything made of Chinesium, so details of your experience would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I couldn't find Pistons, the rings seemed fine but I haven't had the chance to ride it much yet, had a couple of other issues. I also bought valves from aliexpress. One turned up bent but they were very quick to send me a replacement. Overall they were pretty good to deal with

Thanks Hackie. Let me/us know how it goes. Yep, I'm finding new pistons for a ZXR250A are a bit like rocking horse poo...very rare! Was there a particular vendor you bought from on Aliexpress?
