Carbie kit is in and bike is running well (on the bench and up and down the driveway). Cheers @maelstrom for the parts. Ended up finding a cracked engine case was giving me a slow oil leak so I've put one of the spares on. The dash wiring tidied up well and all the lights and gauges I actually want are working, including the tacho. Plenty of other little tidying up jobs have been completed on the entire bike and it's starting to appear track worthy. Not pretty yet, but track worthy. Also looks like the battery isn't getting any charge so I'll diagnose that tomorrow or the day after. After living with a MC22 you get to know your way around the charging circuit pretty well. I'll get some photos up once the fairings go back on. Test track day will be the 7th of Feb at Lakeside. Hopefully this other CBR will be ready for a shakedown too. Surely both bikes won't break down on me, right?
Track day didn't end up happening as its moved to next month. Found a local dyno who does diag runs for $60 so took the bikes over there. CBR 250 went pop on the third run just started blowing oily smoke so I'm guessing I'll be looking at a valve stuck in a piston. FZR 250 couldn't keep the fuel up at high revs. It leaned right out to an AFR of 20 ish as the revs went higher so we didn't push it. Tested the pump and it has 2 psi, carbies have had a decent clean. At idle float level stays on the line on the back of the carb beautifully. Still considering what to do as the first race meet is next weekend. I'll probably go wave flags. Back to the drawing board!
Check the needle clips and make sure they are in the middle position & note the washers too. The upper positions on the needle drop it down to lean it off, lower positions are richer.
Float level and fuel level are two different things. The fuel level should not be on any line it should be 'n' mm above the line. See https://www.litetek.co/Guide_Mikuni_BDST_Fuel_Level.html Cheers
Yep, agreed, but one dictates the other. I'll modify it to get the +10.5mm for a 3ln3 carb. I knew you blokes were the right ones to ask, cheers for the help.
