i just got my 2010 megelli 250r and while im riding, it seems like its at a loss of power. for example at 1st gear i can barely get over 15-20 km/h without it revving so loud that i need to gear up. also at 3rd gear i can barely get over 55km/h. Also when im cold starting it, i can start it without having to choke, and the idle speed sits at around 1k until i ride it long enough to warm it up. occasionally i can also hear a rattling sound and the smell over something overheating which fades away fast. and not too sure if this is related but when im braking hard from around 50km/h the bike stalls. also over certain higher speed bumps when i land the bike decides to stall.
    anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like it could be the carb but it really could be anything.

1st step would probably be to pull off the carb and give it a clean out and tune, flush out the fuel tank incase there's something in there and replace your fuel filter (do megelli's even have a fuel filter?)

While you've got it apart you may as well throw in a new air filter. If all that doesn't help then it's either a timing or spark issue but at least you will have an idea

High flow fuel tap supposedly will assist with your stalling issues - i'm trying to get this part for myself as I sometimes have this problem but only when it cold...so will let everyone know if this helps.

the bike is geared to geared up quickly and the carby runs out of thump after 7k rpm - you probably want to change the sprockets to what is used in a series 2 in order to get better enjoyment out of the thing - it does accelerate a little slower but is a more controllable bike to throw around with those updated parts.  I had similar issues with mine and the change made the bike heaps more fun.
