I've got a GSX250 frame here that I would like to get blasted/powder coated and start building it up. Before I start, I am after some advice with what to do with the QLD Mod plate (which I think is for single seat) riveted to the frame. I Assume that it is not worth keeping and OK to remove, as it would have to be re-engineered in VIC anyway? or should I bother reattaching it after its powder coated in case the bike ever makes It's way back up to QLD? Thats if mod plates don't have some kind of expiry date? It was done 25 years ago.
I'd leave it on. Can't have too many labels/stickers/mod plates when you go to deal with the registry department.
I cant work out what the mod plate is for ? , in Qld, we don't need a mod plate for single seat rego anymore as Queensland Transport allow owners to self evaluate a change from twin to single seat rego. Prior to this change a single seat rego mod plate was known as an LK7 modification, however yours is a C I mod plate which is something I have never heard off,
Thanks for the advice guys, its filed away and will be reattached. @kiffsta, thats interesting. To be honest after searching the web for a while i couldn't confirm that the plate was for single seat mods, i just assumed it was as the bike had half the seat chopped off and the pillion pegs missing. No other noticeable mods. I might give the qld transport authorities a call and see if they can confirm what 'C I' means
google boyz- c1 in qld is for tail shaft modification-look at swing arm or rim- have they been changed.?????????????
I did find that Risky but the 2nd bike does look like the swing arm and rear end are stock, I am assuming it was the old code for single seat rego as the 2nd bike has a modified seat For those playing at home, Qld has a law whereby if our bikes are modded for one rider, then out rego is half price, so all you have to do is shorten the seat to under 50cm's and remove the pillion pegs. Im years gone by, you had to get the bike inspected and a mod plate fitted to get t discount where as now, you just tell them at the counter and thye come and inspect it.
Thanks for clearing that up Kiffsta. I didn't realise it involved actually making changes to the bike. I always thought it was great that QLD had Single Seat Rego as it was fairer (and cheaper) for bike riders. I just assumed you weren't allowed to have a pillion with that kind of rego and you got a fine if the cops caught you dinking. Shame that you have to mod the bike, but heaps cheaper than the full rego we pay in VIC.
