There's the image below. The two black tubing pieces going up with a T-shaped joint .... where does it supposed to be connected? When I pulled the carbs out of mine, I was suspicious that the two pieces were just hanging loose .... I checked the parts diagram, but could not locate it anywhere. So I wonder was the stock just hanging loose and maybe the owner joined them through the T?

Now I am thinking, could this be routed to the bottom o the air box through a tiny air filter? But why would there be another air filter, right after the air box filter??

I can see that in parts diagram (I initially confused it for a fuel filter (because the fuel pump was so close), but I still cannot locate the T shaped connector.

Those are your bowl vents, allowing air in and out to maintain atmospheric pressure in the bowl. For that particular model, the horizontal free barb connects to the hose coming off the right pair of carbs, and there is a hose on the outside of the airbox that then goes down and out near the swingarm pivot. Other arrangements simply have two breathers dropping down to the pivot area.

Yeah, that's what I kind of thought, but why cannot I find the two tubes and T in the parts file? Also, any idea what's the reasoning for the extra tiny air filter, because the air is already filtered going through the air box ....

Do you see that it could make any difference at all between letting the tubes just hang down or routing them to the airbox?

Only that any fuel that evaporates would go into the airbox and get burnt when the engine starts, but it would be 2/10ths of bugger all..

    Thanks Dave.

Can you pls point me to page number parts file where the two tubes ares shown as connecting to the T? The only thing I could find is 2LH-14197, bu there's no T, the pipes look like hanging loose. Also the 2KR manual is not helping, showing that the airbox is really connected to these pipes. I am not sure whether it's a change 2KR vs. 3LN??

I see 1HX-1443E-00, 4X7-2149Y-00 and 90445-11153 in the parts file, but it looks rather long then to be connecting to the two black carb venting tubings. To me it looks like it's just routed down to the ground, like other venting pipes ...

    Thanks,

    Marek

    Marek,

You have a 3LN1, as I recall. The 3LN parts manual shows 2x 2LH-14197-00 tee-fittings, one between each carb pair, with a single vent hose dropping from each.

If the 2KR manual shows the various hoses all joined together, then that would be the model difference I was alluding to earlier, and that photo is from a 2KR.

2LH-14197-00 is not a fitting, it's just the hose part number ....

Anyways, I agree and think the 3LN doesn't have the hoses joined to the airbox and that makes it different when compared to 2KR.

    Thanks for replying.

Yup - the tee-fitting is 4V7-14988-00. Teach me to read a parts fiche on a computer screen without my glasses on...

But that's the T fitting connecting one hose to two carbs. I was talking about T connecting the two vent hoses into one ..... anyways I think we agreed that 3LNs don't have them because the hoses are secured to the back wall of the air box.

This has been kind of long discussion about two hoses. I'd really pay gold for the proper shop manual in English ... but than we wouldn't be talking here as much...
