    hey all
i read in another post that the oil filler cap on the right hand side of the bike is for gearbox and engine oil.... does that mean the gearbox and engine use the same oil? you just fill it up with engine oil to the specified amount for engine oil?

    cheers

Yeh, the bike uses the same oil for your gearbox and engine. As Boz suggested in the other post.. put in 1.8 L and then run your engine for a few minutes so the oil runs well into the engine and gearbox and check the level of oil through the viewing glass meter on the side of the oil tank area. and adjust accordling. of course your bike has to be upright.. so you might want someone to sit on the bike while you check the level.

There is two lines.. it should be between there somewhere.. for me I just put it right in the middle of those two lines. so halfway in that viewing glass should be the oil level.. thats for me anyhows.

Just one more tip - don't overfill!!! When you are adding that last little bit wait about 30 seconds at least to allow it to pool in the bottom before looking at the window and deciding you need more. If you do overfill very slightly it shouldn't be a problem, but if you fill it so that the window is entirely full you will have to drain some... (I am sure that there is a protection against having too much oil, but I would prefer not to test it...)
