hey guys

i took my swing arm off and the chain and cleaned a whole lot of stuff up.... then i put everything back and forgot to put the chain back on

how do i figure out if my chain has a master link or if i need to take the swingarm off again? the only different link in the chain doesnt seem to come apart at all... the rivets are just slightly different...

    thanks

Umm, you'll either have to take the swingarm off again, "OR" you can cut that one slightly different link off and replace it.

Yeah it sounds like a rivet link chain... I thought you could punch those rivets out with something? No? Oh well, guess swingarm removal is in order (doh!)

Well at least you can sleep easier knowing you have reputedly the strongest master link of the three known types.. If thats any consolation.

It happens. I didn't bolt up one of the float bowls one time (left it a teeny bit unsealed), and only realised AFTER I had put the whole bike back together. So I had to take everything back off just to tighten it. There was fuel dripping everywhere too.

fortunately it only took me 15 to 20 minutes to fix...

on the plus side, i know the rear of the bike like the back of my hand

on the down side i scratched my newly painted swingarm grrr

I'm sure that I'll do something like that when I reassemble my whole bike from the ground up.
