My bike used to run a bit rich, now after the mechanic screwed around with it ( did a good job though ) it's running too lean for my liking. How would I go about increasing the richness?

on the right hand side of the bike, just above and a bit to the right where you put the oil in is a screw that allows you to adjust the ratio. let the bike warm up a bit before adjusting it as you might find the bike rev's a bit more once its warmed up.Either way, the ideal rev's for the bike to run at is about 2000rpm and seeing the instruments only start at 3000 you need to use your ears. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

What kind of work did the mechanic do to it? Did he pull the carbs apart and clean them? Replace anything like air filter?
From what I have been able to gather lots of things all work together to produce the right fuel air mixture on the bike. The "mixture screws" are not the things you should be going to to correct the mixture imbalance. They are the last things that should be tampered with, unless you know they have been changed in the past. They are located within the actual carbie, you have to pull it completely apart and maybe even drill bits of metal out to get to them. It is because of this you may want to look into other things first.

The screw that sandog is talking about is the idle adjuster. It has nothing to do with the mixture. It is attached to the throttle stop screw. Because engines aren’t so good at burning fuel at low rpm and when they are cold it can seem to be adjusting the mixture but it has nothing to do with it. Turning it to the right is just like holding the throttle out a fraction of the way so it will rev faster.
