Well I've been wearing my sidi boots for 6 months. And I looked at them the other day just out of interest to see the wear patterns where the levers are and was shocked to find this:

Now remember your looking at these boots upside down, so left is on the right and vice versa.

Now these boots are only ever worn for riding. They get put on at my front door, walk to the bike (maybe 15 steps) get off the bike at work, walk about the same amount of steps to out the back and switch into my work boots. And the exact reverse on the way home.

See there apart from the massive wear on the inside of the ball of the boot, massive lever wear, the heel is also worn from the way I step. The rest of the boot though is in effing MINT condition bar a few scratches, and a bit of polish from the foot guards on the inside of the heel guards. Has anyone else had premature boot wear like this? Particularly SIDI's?

Not even my SIDI Votice boots have this much wear and by the other wear and tear on those they were dailies in their tenure before my ownership and were made in the same year (2010).

I used to wear Gaerne boots, and I found similar sort of wear to what you're experiencing.
The thin soles definitely weren't designed for walking, but the trade off was good feel on the pegs.
I wear Rossi boots now, and they are definitely lasting much better than the Gaerne's- lots more tread. Also very comfortable to walk in.
No toe sliders, but happy without them.
