hey all
tried to do a search but it spat gibberish up on the screen ...

did the earlier model fzr's come out with a single light? or are they only on the later models?

also i read on another post that the only differences between the 250, 250R and 250RR are cosmetic... can anyone confirm this?

cheers

Hey, I believe the single headlight came out on the 1990 model, and continues till 94.
The difference between the 'r' models is discussed a fair bit on these forums (the seized search link doesn't help! ). As far as I know there is no difference between the frames at all...(obviously depending what year) So a 1990 fzr250r will look exactly the same as the 'rarer' 1990 fzr250rr. The only difference being the 'rr' redlines a few thousand rpm more.

cheers
thanks for that grendal

so would i be right in assuming that single light fzr's are 3ln's with deltabox frame and exup?

or is that not necessarily the case?

Yeah thats a reasonable assumption....nearly all the 1989+ bikes have exup...and if ur frame is more than 3cms wide its a deltabox :p.

If its a 1990+ it'll be a 3ln, with exup and deltabox.

also the R and RR models have dual front brakes, where as the normal fzr250's have a single

Nah thats cool, I had no idea what all the 'exup' **** was when I got my bike...(to realise it didn't have exup ) lol. Deltabox as far as I know, is the frame in which they still use today for most yamahas? Anyway, its just a lot wider..(not to sure about stonger) but I assume so. Well it gives the impression that it is anyway.

The 2krs have a skinner frame. I reckon its more looks than anything....

the deltabox frame is a thicker frame that runs up the side. It is in a 'diamond shape' if you look at if from the top (or bottom) and was supposed to add a considerable amount of stiffness and feel to the ride. Apparantly it made a considerable difference to the bigger bore bikes and was adopted earlier on the larger bikes (as early as '86 I think). It started on the 250's in 1989/90 with the 3ln model. It may add a bit of feel/stiffness to the frame of the 250, though I doubt anyone who isn't in Rossi's company would notice the difference on a 250. It did add about 5 kg to the mass (it took off mass on the larger bikes though)
