just wondering what addatives people are adding to their sonic cleaner water as most sonic sites are o/seas and the products they use arnt avil or to exie and hard to get ,need info on general use and carb cleaning
I'm sure there are better products but I had decent results with CT-18. I think I mixed it roughly at about 100:1 when I did the carbs on the ZXR.
Water needs to heat up first and I just use a squirt of dishwashing liquid Never just put anything in without the basket .... nothing must touch the sides or bottom of the unit https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/cleaning-carburettors-using-threebond.3800/ https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/ultrasonic-cleaning.1433/
up till now always heated water up first and just a squirt of dishwashing liquid , with the c18 is there any discolouration if forget and leave alum in o / night
CT18 is slightly caustic if memory serves me correctly so the potential is definitely there to discolour or even etch the surface. I have used a mix of water, vinegar and dishwashing detergent use a well known brand. Dawn used to be the best but is not available in Australia any more other than expensive imports. Fairy is pretty good. Just make sure you rinse and dry. Jewellers use Morning fresh detergent, boiling water, cloudy ammonia and line the bottom of the ultrasonic with aluminum foil... so I am told....lol Happy to be corrected on the last one
My mate uses white vinegar and water mix 1:4 from memory and a couple drops of commercial gp liquid (slippery soap like but not detergent I think) from a dairy factory. He has had good results. I've read that deionised water is best. Is that something thats easy to obtain?
