I bought an sr250 couple of weeks ago pulled the exhaust of to clean and check and the box on the left side is rusted out and has many small holes. Other than replacing what options are there for keeping it together? Must say the exhaust is not annoyingly loud at the moment. Any suggestions will be very welcome.
Hi , Mr Motorcycle Dismantlers ( Mark Reed is the owner ) on 0419 824 157 , is wrecking a SR 250. Not sure if it's the correct one though , but give him a call. He's an honest seller , I've had no issues at all with him. Or , you can have a go at brazeing all of the holes up and see how you go.
This is the link for Mr Motorcycle Dismantlers. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/st-...rts/sr-250-2003-yamaha-dismantling/1268018039 Look's like there are aftermarket system's available , but as usual , it will be a budget blow out . https://modelikocaferacers.com/gb/j...e-exhaust-kit-with-terminal-yamaha-sr250.html https://www.mikesxs.net/motorcycles/Yamaha/SR250/all-models/1980/exhaust-systems-and-mufflers.html
Thanks guys! I have bogged the holes, with muffler putty, don't expect it to last but it will give me time to think. Lots of possibilities from modifying the original to an aftermarket muffler. The bike is a rider and Concourse I will leave to others. The system on gumtree is on a later disk brake model, it looks the same but may not fit the early SR's? Thanks for the suggestions, its great to have someone to talk to!
No problem , where happy to help. Give Mark Reed a call , he's very knowledgeable on older bikes so I've found out in the past dealings with him. He may have more SR parts that's not listed. There was an old post with another SR 250 owner repairing his bike , pretty sure there where links to spare part bikes. A picture of your bike is always welcome.
