These bikes can be finicky to start. A fully charged battery is a must. Don't twist the throttle at all, just use the choke - you will learn how much over time. If you try and try without it starting they will foul the plugs and if you persist you will probably have to go through the PITA process and pull the plugs to clean them. If you have flooded the engine, then another method is to ignore what I wrote above and hold the throttle fully open whilst cranking until it starts.
i am having that exact problem with my fzr atm. gonna replace plugs and battery and hopefully that will fix the problem. on a side note i noticed on my mc22 (cbr) that when starting it hot a little bit of throttle helps. But each bike is different and you will work it out.
Might just be fouled plugs needing a clean up. Check and set the gap correctly. Also, if it has the screw on top installed, make sure it is tight, otherwise the connection will be less than perfect
