That link didn't work, but if you are talking about a Yamaha TRX 850, they are a parallel twin, not a v-twin. Very awesome sounding bike. I like the sound of it better than a v-twin, but thats just me...

oops. At the time I was just exposed to them. Have learned a great deal more about them since. And they do sound very nice, though the standard exhausts really limit the sound.

Glueing? Umm... i'd highly recommend against doing that. Take the time and effort to fabricate up a decent mounting system for it. There's plenty of places you can mount it so measure twice, cut once, and fab something up.

Just been checking out the trx850, sounds like a great bike once you upgrade the suspension and brakes. Sounds like the carbs wear out just like the fizzers do though. I will have to mark it up on the wish list of dream bikes for when I start looking for my next bike. Damn that list is long.

Anyone actually ridden one?

within australia there are two trx models available - australian delivered and japanese delivered. The japanese bikes have better brakes (brembo) as standard. Not sure of the other differences off hand, nor about carb problems (one has something like 2 extra HP - not sure which).

Yeah, I've had a quick blat on one. They have great power down low, and they just keep on pulling. I actually found the brakes to be excellent, but it had the brembo brakes. The rear is very powerful, and you can lock it upo easy as... not so good, but you get used to it.
The only things that I could fault it on (at the time) was how slow it tipped into corners, but the tyres were due for replacement, so it also felt heavy while in the corner. The other problem comes from stepping off a bike that revs to 18000rpm and getting on one that revs to around 6500/7000 rpm. I kept hitting the rev limiter . All in all, a good bike, and yes, they sound even better when you are the one riding it, just awesome.

Cheers for the input. That rev limiter my be a problem but it is defiantly on the list. Only thing to do now is wait for my restrictions to end…..
