Help Suzuki GSF250V need general directions for a no start motor.

    Hey there been awhile since I've posted about this bike, but been feeling motivation to get back on the grind to get it to finally start and run well.
    Just to preface, I bought this bike not running. Off a teenager so assume no real maintenance has been done. I've removed the tank due to rust from it sitting and rebuilt the carbs using a kit and reset it back to factory. It has a new battery, new spark plugs, new oil. Currently as it sits it has no airbox or tank on it and I'm trying to fault find with carbs exposed to fresh air.

    With that said it's still very hard to start. I got it started once today with "start you bastard" starter fluid and setting the idle high. Once it did finally start I found I couldn't give it throttle without it dying and it sat at about 2000rpm. Also it would shoot gas out of one of the carbs with a loud pop. This is how I've left it.

    So question. Where should I aim to go for from here? Should I be pulling the motor out and start looking at valves or could this be that the carbs arent quite right? What would you guys do?

    Checking valves can't hurt, just be aware coolant pipe runs through the cam cover and is prone to rusting, making cam cover removal a bit difficult. Is this the variable lift model (VVT?) If so, they have special shims that are very hard to find. Checking the clearances properly is no simple task either, as you have cams and rockers. Two sets of rockers for the inlet valves, two sets of clearances for them.

    I believe it's vvt. It's a gsf250vy g77a 1999 model. Yeah the connections are not looking the best where the coolant pipes are. I guess I'll have to see how I go. It has probably never been checked in its lifetime.

    No start situations can be very not fun. I'm glad it's not the only bike I own.
