About 10 days ago we acquired this Suzuki RG250. It's a 1984 model in need of some tender loving care. She has seen better days, but so far nothing insurmountable, or so I hope. Will keep you posted on the progress I make with this bike. Phil
looks pretty good base to start from phil those carbs might need a ultrasonic clean but iv seen worse clean up like new
SUZUKI RG250 GAMMA HISTORY Bike was produced for a 4 year period from 1983 to 1987. RG250'S are a 2 stroke, parallel twin and liquid cooled that produce 45 HP on a platform that weighs a mere 130 KG's. Power to weight ratio looks pretty good. 1983
Not a bad looking bike Chris muswt have a lare garage if you filled that much of your shopping list there. As for tha air filter It looks like it would last at least another 12 months. Just don't ride it anywhere dirty!
Hey Len Good to hear from you. Whats your knowledge of the RG250, I'm not terribly up to speed. This bike was somewhat neglected and in need of some TLC. I think that progress is being made, slowly slowly. Next week I hope to crank her up, fingers crossed. Phil
Progress has been somewhat slow the last few days. The triple tree saga was interesting. managed to realign clamp and then came the fun stuff. Using a vertical drill press I slowly drilled the broken bit out, 30 minutes at least as the inner was in a bad way. Finally drilled through and after fitting a helicoil job was done. Bearing were pretty good, a good repack with grease and fitted it back up. Repaired the carb I broke, thank god. Tomorrow getting throttle cable sorted and Chris informs me the new clutch cable has arrived, happy days. All being well, I hope to crank it over next, not sure which day!!!!! :-\ Phil
hey phil i am very familiar with the rgv engine which was a twin although from my understanding they are very similer. I suggest checking the power valve as i believe they are a 2 or 3 part slide and tend to wear down. Good luck with it though they are a classic and a good bike to fiddle with.
