    If you do want to clean the carbs - there is actual carb cleaner that should be used. No idea the effect of WD40 on them.

    You should just be able to flush out the tank without removing the engine at all. Most of the rust (if not all) would have been caught by the fuel filter so there should be no reason to tank out the tank.

    Rust

    If my engine had rust on it I would take the hour it takes and drop the engine and clean in real good. If I couldnt be botherd I would give it a spray with a compessor, I would use kerosen (wrong spelling but whats new) and spray the engine let it sit for around 20mins then give another blasting, let it sit then wash it off lightly. Kero has a awesome ability to clean **** off metals and afterwards leaving a film of luberication behind. Then I would use engine degreaser, follow instructions of course to get any stubborn grease off and then wash off. The spray with carb cleaner and maybe some WD40.
    I gess I just like it to be clean!!! <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->
