Found an old pic from 1972. I weighed about 50 kg and the bike is one of the first Suzuki 1000 water-cooled jobs. It was MASSIVE and I always knew that if I dropped it I wouldn't be able to pick it up on my own.
Ahhh ....the 70s .....and the hair! ..... I have photos somwhere like that ..... I think Ill leave them buried
A couple of old nostalgic photos coming up lately so heres somewhere for everyone to post their pics from back in their heyday!
Here's a pic of me as a very young pilion with mum's CB250RS - must have been early '80s as I'm about shoulder high to the bike!
I'm born in 80's so not as old but still can remember when dad bought this brand spankin! Couldnt wait to go for a ride! (And yes I now what u all thinking lock up ur daughters hahahaha)
another thing i remembered. i was 20 in the photo. now i'm 61 and not much hair left. but i still have the jacket (minus the denim cover. i can't recall what happened to that) and i'm still wearing it.
Your exactly the same vintage as me ..... I know if I had a jacket from my 20s theres no way it would fit now .... but I still have a covering of hair on my head! The big question remains though ....wat happened to the bike?
I found it a bit too heavy for city commuting. I'm sure bikes had more mass in those days. I traded it in for a Yammie XS650 midnight special that I could stand with both feet flat on the ground. I had that bike for about 10 years before selling it and not riding again for the next 15 or so years. Got the bug back this year when the wife asked me if I ever thought about riding again after my cousin bought a Suzuki Boulevard last year. Half your luck if you still have hair!
That Water Bottle would be worth a few bucks today. Since we're airing our old pics, here's one for the Kawasaki fans...
chinese riding boots and long haired louts. bet the hair is less and grey.mine is,old memories are a joy but what about past regrets. mine was blonde and i was active. now less active and blondes i take out use a bottle of hair colour. LOL.
LOL. I used to have a Bell helmet in those days. It looked like something you could wear jousting! Gloves? isn't that what mum wears when she's doing the washing up?
Must have been the first model - drum front brake. Suzuki brought out a twin disc upgrade kit for them in 1973 that was a complete new front end, forks, wheel, discs, callipers, hoses, handlebars, brake lever for, wait for it - $180! I was working in a motorcycle shop after school at the time and spend a lot of time fitting the kits to customers bikes.
Your hair is as cool as the bike! Here's one of me back in the day... not as long ago as some... (and no I wouldn't ride it without full gear, I'm throwing a poser). Back in '07 I think.
