from where i left off last, i bought the frame of a gsx250R and a bandit 250 engine which all together set me back $1500 after many weeks of playing around i sent it off to a suzuki mechanic. got the gsxr250 back from the mechanics today, after having a cracked sump, massive electrical problems, a faulty coil, no usable exhaust, no matching bolts for the engine mounts, half destroyed carbies and many other problems. its been finally sorted out, put together and man it sounds amazing. all thats left now getting roadworthy mirrors, rear indicators, front brake pads and possibly a back tyre if mine doesnt pass the roadworthy and its on the road.
pics/vids will be posted tomorrow :)

ok so took the bike out yesterday, didnt notice that the bandit exhaust had melted he bottem of my plastics so now have to cut and fix the plastic up... anyway took it for a ride and man not the greatest idea taking it out in the wet but still extremely fun!
but now after riding it i realized i still have the following problems-
lights in the cluster and tacho works but the speedo and odometer dont... faulty connection? maybe...
front brake pads need to be changed asap, anyone know what type of pads this bike uses?
back tire might not pass roadworthy and
no clue how to attach mirrors at this point

    heres some pics
the bandit engine is a 92 model, but im still using my carbs because there 2mm bigger than any other ones

    Hey Dusan
What a sweet looking machine, I really like the look. OK a couple of teething problems but nothing to grand. Lights on the dash could be as simple as blown globes, have a quick check.
You can also get led's for the dash which draw very little current, Dick smith or Jaycar can assist.
As for brakes, check with your local dealer and then try shopping on line to get the best deal.
As for mirrors, the photo didn't show what attachment you have, let Chris or I know what you are after as we have a variety of mirrors to choose from.
Again mate well done, she looks the goods. Enjoy the ride

thats the thing, the lights in the dash work fine, the actual speedo doesnt move nor does the odometer. the lights and tacho work fine though. mirrors im not too sure about how im going to attach them yet, i have a nice set although the holes where the mirrors were originally have been bogged up or welded and painted over but i have some strange attachment which ill take a photo tomorrow and show you what i mean. tomorrow im gonna take out my front brakes and go down to a bike shop and get a new set and also just scored myself a Shoie helmet in orange (used) although it only has stone chips but the visor needs replacing for $200 :)

    Hey Dusan
Sorry mate, I misunderstood what you were talking about. You have a couple of options, one you get a specialist to repair your current speedo or secondly try sourcing one on line.
Try findapart .com.au as this network connect nationally to about 500 wreckers, I've used it alot over the years. We have a specialist here in Brisbane who repairs instruments and is considered very good. Let me know if that is a requirement and I'll send you his details.
                                                    Cheers  Phil

I can see a speedo cable in your photos so its definaty a mechanic al speedo, if you have a front stand, maybe undo the cable from the back of speedo and spin the front wheel and verify that its spinning at the speedo end ?  could be as simple as a dodgy cable.

    thanks

    Chris

    Hey Dusan
Good luck on Tuesday mate, be cool it's a walk in the park.
Many exhaust have a shield which is separate from the exhaust. The material appears to be aluminium and is found on some models only. Those bikes were the exhaust protrudes from under the seat at the rear. You will probably have to tap one out as your bike didn't have one to start with. Some of the larger Honda CBR's had these. If you need to see one PM Chris as he has them in his garage. Hope this helps a little

got one of the highest scores overall they have had. up to 25 seconds on the slow riding down the straight lines and 1.5-2m braking while the others were doing 6-7m. Going for my Ps in 3 months :D
So spent $240 on the licence and another $270 spent on the bike for the roadworthy this includes
    -back tire + installation
-4 front brake pads + installation since my calipers had all locked up
-2 mirrors + rubbers + installation ( didnt want to risk cracking plastic)
-new speedo cable + installation ( had a gsxr400 randomly laying around the garage got lucky)
    -new indicators
    -headlights fixed
everything was done in around 2 hours last night cos my mechanic had to go to queensland today since his the suzuki aus race team mechanic and wont be seeing him for a week while there racing

congrats Dusan,  Im not sure how things work in Victoria, but in Qld, we get our learners at Department of Transport, then we can do a Qride course with an acredited providor or a Qsafe test with main roads. Once we pass , we get an RE license that allows us to ride approved bikes up to 650cc ( LAMS),  then after holding a RE license for 12 months, we can site a Qride or Qsafe course for our open license.

It seems you have done a practical test , but why do you need to go for your P's in 3 months ?

all i done was a practical and multiple choice test. in vic you stay on Ls for up to 15months now, after 3 months though you can choose to do another riding test to get your Red Ps, stay on red ps for a year and you get your green Ps. Once you hit your greens restrictions are gone. pretty much the same thing as yours
