$3300 seemed cheaper than the CBR, and you get dual front brakes. However, it may be inferior in a few ways, including power, surely Honda made more 19hp? It could be licensed as Honda aren't making the 250 now, just the 300 - that's how many of Korean car makers got their start, too.

Shane, 19kw is actually 25hp, so power is okay. $3,300 is cheap, but I was looking at the "Buy it Now" price of $4,200 and that doesn't sound like it is "rideaway & no more to pay". As I said, I may be being too critical. If you buy it, let us know how it goes. Actually, has anyone on this forum bought one of these bikes? I believe they've been selling them for over a year in Australia.

It did say compli, RWC not required for a new bike, listed price is meant to be drive away, as I understood it. Google for reviews, people will have posted.

Comes in the box so would not be 'ride away price'.

It's a box away price. Box may or may not be the shape of a coffin.

How does that work? You get it in a box; put it together and what? Do you trailer it to the local rego place for them to inspect it? Whole things sounds a bit suss to me. I guess the Australian Reseller is trying to move whatever stock he imported. I know when I think of quality 2fiftycc motorcycles "Jiajue" isn't the first brand that comes to mind. Here's a few other 250cc brands that I find are easy to forget (no offence to anyone that owns one and thinks they're great). I believe the Kymco & Daelim are okay.

50 years ago the local boys on thier Matchless and AJS's would have said the same about 'this rubbish coming from Japan'. How times change?
Give the Chinese another ten years (maybe less) and they will probably be one of the top sellers for bikes.

The only caveat I would add to that Murdo is that the Japanese have an obsession with perfection as part of their culture.

totally agree with your post Maelstrom, everyone has been saying that Chinese quality will catch up like it did with the Japanese in the 60's, I'm not so sure .

The Chinese are also struggling a little with marketing, names like "Lucky Golden Dragon Co." and similar don't really cut it, but we should not underestimate them. They have an unquenchable desire for money driven by their merchant genome, and they will succeed. It will be interesting to see what defines Chinese style as these fledgling automotive manufacturers grow up.

I agree with you and Maelstrom. Maelstrom lives in the region, so he would know first hand what each Asian group thinks of the other and what strengths and weaknesses each has. The Chinese compete on price. The concept of build quality is lost on them and that's why as soon as they have money, they buy stuff from Germany or other countries. China is a communist run country with no respect for its citizens and their well-being. You can not compare China to Japan or even South Korea. Sorry to rant, but the way China is run and it's attitude towards the rest of the world really annoys me. I'm going to have a cup of tea and a lay down!

Haha good idea Frank. I might have one too.

China is changing. There is no point getting hot under the collar about the politics though. If they implemented democracy overnight in China the whole country would grind to a halt. Political systems have to evolve at their own rate. There is a great scene in the excellent documentary "The People's Republic of Capitalism", where one of the people featured corrects the American presenter by making the point that he trusts his government but he does not love them. It is well worth watching. Most people in this part of the world are just trying to survive, me included, there is no social security net. I have also lived in South Korea and the thing I have learnt is that it takes a lot of years before you can even come close to understanding these cultures through their eyes.
    cheers
    Blair

Yes Stu, it's a favourite topic of mine (and others). To be clear, my best friend and the best man at my wedding is a Chinese-Malay whose surname is Fong, so let's not confuse where I'm coming from. My angst is not racially motivated. Like most people my concern is with governance. Back to eBay I go.
