    Hi folks,

I am a newb here and have a question, before I consider buying one (1991 3LN). It would be most likely strictly for track use.

I have read the sticky about pre-purchase and what to look for and be aware of. I am looking for a bit more info regarding parts. Obviously parts will not be easy to get, that I understand, but is there a list of parts which are impossible to get? Like for example, one bike I used to have, you couldn't buy pistons for, no OEM, nor aftermarket, so if the motor went, it was game over, unless you were lucky to buy a whole used unit ...

Also, is there a list of internet shops who carry stuff for the bike? I am in Canada, so it will be strictly internet I am sure as there's not much specialty motorcycle shops around who would be able to get parts for non-imports.

I just want to know what I am getting into, before I pull the pin ....

    Thanks a lot.

That would be good if it's only the forks and headers. What are the good sites to order parts from?

    Thanks

Pistons and rings were recently listed on Ebay, supposedly new stock in Yam boxes, for stupid cheap. Most consumables can be had through Yamaha; I have had excellent service (good prices, too!) with getting new parts from Redline-ci.com in California.

Where in the GTA are you?

    Hey dontz,

thanks for the reply. This looks like the type of vendor I was looking for. I live in Brampton.

BTW, I am most likely coming to your Scarborough to see one FZR250 for sale on Sunday morning. I could use your expertise ... <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Just be aware that big ends have a habit of chewing out on these engines with hard use (racing). There is an oilway mod for the 400s that you should do,

Interesting, albeit for the wrong reasons. This looks like a must mod reading the reasoning behind it. First thing today, I will ask my buddy, who's ben racing his FZR400 for about 15 years, so I will see what he has to say about that.

Anyways, too late for this bo the reason to stay away from the deal. I bought one yesterday, should be in my garage next week.

Nope, I am in Canada. But who knows I might be interested in some stuff. But I will not know until I start opening her up.
