    Hey guys and gals, just wondering if anyone out there has ever had to change their throttle cable on the FZR. I was looking for the source of a new noise that shown up, curiously enough a day after its last oil and filter change...... though thats not the point, I had the RHS fairing off and I noticed whislt I was opening the throttle that the cable is down to its last strand, where it meets the carbs. I dont know how long it has been like this but I am now concerned that I will get 1/2 way through a ride and it will snap....which could possibly be a problem. So has anyone ever had theirs snap and had to replace it? If so, is it hard to do on your own?
    Cheers

    Not overly hard to do - pretty straight forward.
    Hardest part is probably getting the cables all sorted out at the carbs end; throttle grip end is pretty simple.

    Not too difficult to replace it, got my younger brother to put the cable back onto the carbs since he's got smaller hands. The japs have such tiny hands....

    My cable snapped 4km from home...i had to ride on the sidewalk, doing around 5km/hr and using the choke, you should have seen the people's faces as i was passing them on the bike hehehe priceless

    Another reason i absolutely love my FZR1000! It was built with big Anglosaxon hands in mind; so much so that everything including the oil filter has enough room for me to comfortable get one of my mitts in there and get a good grip. Even the spark plugs are almost a 'by hand' job.

    No chop-sticks required. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->
