ok grab a beer and cig, timing!!! I am not sure where i am with my timing, i have just put new shims in and put evrything back together took for a run not happy something was wrong checked the cam again was one tooth out only took inlet can out, move the cam so timing marks line up went for another ride still not right that was yseterday, today got home stripped down to the cam again and lined up marks, cams to cam caps ok T mark in line with mark on cover (rhs) valve lobes opposite each other on No 1 piston, piston tdc used pencil in plug hole but it looks like No 4 intake is about to fire cam lobe about to open no 4 intake valves and i am rotating engine to the front (clockwise) from rhs of motor (when I was doing the shims only had one pair to measure all 8 intake valves so had to swap from cyl to cyl and accidently turned the motor without chain tensioner in ) I may have set evrything 180 degrees out!!!! fzr400 manual say counter clockwise which put No 1 ready to fire, I'm confused here which is the right direction have they swapped things around to the 250 (are timing marks on different sides of engine?)
should i keep going clockwise to set timing?
confused because it seems a long way of for cam to fire if at tdc and cam lobes are opposite each other 3/4 turn of cam
totally confused can anyone decipher this and help me out?

The FZR400 flywheel is on the opposite side of the engine, therefore you turn it the opposite direction to the 250 when looking at the flywheel.
It is in fact the same direction when viewed from the same side.

180 deg out wont matter. Just make sure the cams are on the marks and it will all work because of the wasted spark system.

from the foot brake side is correct

thanks m8 just making sure, don't think there are too many bikes that rotate anti-cl-wise, and i decided while i'm at it may as well replace the exhaust shims but after checking them again didn't need to, at the moment I am boiling the airbox rubber boots in coolant (overnight) in crock-pot see if that makes any difference putting them on, will soon find out 2morrow, after I buy missus new crock-pot
    thanx m8
