My driveway at home is very steep and has a dogleg at the bottom which is gravel and rutted. To get the bike up I take it down to a lower terrace and take a bit of run at it (not to fast but just enough to keep up momentum). My problem this morning is it had rained last night so I didn't take the bike to lower terrace this morning cause it would have been to slippery down there! So from starting at the bottom I let the clutch out and as I started to climb it struggled and when I went to give it more throttle it died! I was able to keep from stalling by pulling on the clutch. I tried 3 times and the same thing happend. The last time I just fanned the clutch revved it up and fish tailed through the gravel but got up. After that it did not miss a beat all day.
I pre warm the bike for around 10mins every morning and when it's cold it won't idle off the choke (for long) until it's been ridden. I feel the mixtures are set to rich and the problem is to much fuel is in the Bowles and it needs a good run to clear! There is always a strong smell of fuel around the bike (I know there are no leaks). According to the previous owner the carbys we're rebuilt and balanced last year. The bike runs smooth through the rev range but I do think it is fueling up when sitting idling on warmup.
Tomorrow I am going to try not warming it up for so long and see what happens.

How are you getting on? I had a similar issue in October last year, with a friends steep driveway.

In my case, if the motor was quite hot I have trouble getting up the driveway.

Radiator flush and carby balance did the job for me.
