Gees, it's like a morgue in here. There's only ever one new msg every 3 or so days.

It must be getting to the point now where you're questioning the wisdom of paying whatever you're paying for the web space. There's not much action going on....

Unfortunately this seems to be the case. Upon review with James and Boz the FZR 250 as much as we love the site to grow the community for the FZR 250 is not big enough to be completely rolling and active. I have talked to FZR archives from http://www.fzrarchives.com/ who lack information on the FZR 250, who are more then happy to put the information collected so far into good use on their website. As much as I would love to keep the site active, real life duties call, as much as I love my FZR 250 and know that is the bestest bike in the whole wide world, I could not devote my time on the website as much as I wish. For the forum part of the site there are two forums we can attend to. One being http://pub28.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhood where we originally broke off from, and http://www.fzrarchives.com/ who also have a forum board.

As the site was build completely for passing the information of the FZR 250, I hope it does not die with the end of this site. There are quite a few gurus out there and to find a board we can all go to and help each other about any issues on the FZR 250 or pass knowledge on to those new to this ultimate riding machine would still serve the purpose of this site.

Any feedback on the closure of the site is greatly appericated.

Or even better if anyone has an ideas on running the site or taking over the whole admin of the site.

When the forums were first put together there was a joke section, along with a few others (i.e. babes & bikes...). But then it got culled to what it is today simply because there was not the traffic to keep open a lot of topics.

It was FZR dude having a go about casket was it? fark i cant remember lol

Yeh I was thinkin having only one topic to increase traffic hahah but thats crazy. I have 3 months before it expires, atm I am in talks with FZR archives in transfering the data across so he can look after the data part of it and maybe we can shift the boards across there. Who knows.. all i know is I am really just a poster not an admin.. its so much work !! they dont pay me enough!~! come on boz and james give me more money hehee

Money?? I don't even own an fzr anymore!

Out of curiosity - what is the yearly cost? My friend is heavily in the web development industry, and knows where to find cheap hosting / domain name registration. Could ask him and see what he could get it for, and perhaps if reasonable I could consider...

Money is not the issue it is only about $100 a year, just that admin side of the site like looking after the whole site updating it when it needs to be.. is where i dont have enough of. Also the use of the site, does it really get used enough to justify the $100 i dont know eh..

I look at is this way if I subscribe for another year, will the site get driven to the group where pplz just wouldnt want to check out anymore.. thus why i rather move it across to somewhere where it can be put into great use. For me i like the forum, there are many aussie riders who have fzr 250.. which i still wanna ride with.

I have no idea wot to do.. Boz help me you the Wise one!!

I have an idea no actually an action, since the main webpage with all the info does not get used much we can chuck all that info on the fzr archive site. Leave the forum open for now and see how that goes. With the site only being used for forum use I will open up all users to allow them to upload, so you can upload pics of bikes and the how tos u have made and watever.

This will allow more bandwidth for the forum use, since the main info webpages were not viewed constantly and the forum was a better communication means in resolving out issues and how tos.

Hope no1 goes irrate on me, I think its best for the site we just use the forum only for now..

If you do wanna take a shot at me, one bullet per person

time for my two bit's worth....
I'd be dissapointed to see this page go, as it was really good to find a site dedicated just to our bikes. There seems to be an over exposure of the cbr250, but not a lot of info about these. Even the new aust. motorcycle trader recommends a cbr250, didn't even mention the fzr to a bloke looking for a learner bike. i've emailed them saying how dissapointing that was and how much better the fzr's are.. and told them to come here and have a look.
It's a pity that no one wanted to go riding with me from brisbane, especially now as my bike runs so sweetly. yes i am female but doesn't mean that they'd be embarassed to be seen with me!
Boz, you want a pic of the pre exup bike? want me to send ya a pic of mine? I did put one up on bikepics, but it's not from the side. I got some good shots of the bike on the weekend.. and yes the bike is named *mini me* other half used to have a black/gold zx12, my bike black/gold, therefore named mini me

Tanya, what year is your bike? Is it the black/gold 88/ 89 model?

When I first got my fzr around a month ago now, I had a fair bit of trouble finding information on the net. It was only till I went through many pages in google that i found the previous forum for the fzr, that linked me to this webpage. There is hardly anything on fzr250's, well in english anyway. And it would be a shame is this site was to go down.

Also, I reckon we should have more topics like jokes, pick of the week etc. Make it a little more.
Also, it would be cool if we had a section with riders. Eg, have their name, location, possibly photos of them and their bikes. Just to make it more of a community website, where everyone feels special

yep, 1988 black with gold wheels. It's been on a trip on it's left side before (not me) so the stickers are slightly wrong, and the tank is actually black, not the blue/black that they usually are. But otherwise it's in really good nick for it's age. I'm proud of it.
In Qld they have a scheme called Q Ride. if you've had a car licence for 5 years or more you can do a 2 day course, and walk away with a full motorbike licence. No learners, no P plates, full licence. So after having no experience at all I can legally ride a R1/Eyeabuser/zx12, anything i want after 2 days! If you haven't had your licence for 5 years you can only get a full 250cc licence with the course. Even though I did it I think it's crazy. I bought a 250, when i get better I'd like a 600.

Yeah mines an 88 2kr as well. Picked it up for 2,300...not sure if that was a reasonable price or not :s. Although the colour scheme is completely different to the standard ones, which i think r just the black/gold and red/white. This is like a metallic blue, with white stickers...which makes it look a bit newer...however u can tell the year of the bike by just looking at the headlights . Wish I could change em.

P.s ill post a pic of the bike when I get the time to take some good ones. And when the weather improves in Melbourne..bloody hell

I hardly know what the exup is. Ive come to the understanding that its like a seperate chamber or something that opens up when u put the throttle on...Far as I know im not aware of this..but not sure how find out... Do any of the 2kr's have it? And what exactly is it?

EXUP Valve=Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve

There is a butterfly type valve located in the headpipe just before where the slip-on/muffler attaches. It is designed to create back-pressure in the exhaust for more low-end to mid-range power/grunt. The valve is fully closed for much of the rev range and not fully open until ??,000 rpm's (I have no clue as to the point it opens fully on the 250's as I have a 1000) At the point where the valve is about 3/4 open it is more or less where the real power starts. (Mine starts about 7k and pulls all the way to redline @11,5. I remember it being a lot windier at 145 than it was.)

Or so I have been told. [IMG]
