Gotta love the illegal U turn, riding on the wrong side of the road and mounting an island all WITHOUT lights and not in an emergency.... Abuse of power there.... Could have sworn they can only break the laws THEY should enforce in the case of emergency.. Not to revenue raise to pay for the new bikes they are buying... But hey that is just one man's opinion....

Normally i'd agree and say yes its abuse of power, but seen how many people have disregard for the law over here and how bad drivers are in Perth any way i applaud the WA Police for doing what they are doing, even if it means doing a few U turns and mounting curbs with out lights and sirens. i see it as stealth mode so they can catch people doing the wrong, they have had enough warnings! i just wish they would now enforce all the fines and for those that don't pay, clamp or take their car. I'd also like to see them been harder on those that loose their licence and not give extraordinary licences out so easy. I've lived in Ireland, Sydney, Brisbane, North QLD (Ayr) and Perth, and with out question Perth drivers are the worst drivers i have ever had to share the road with in my 14 years of driving.

But can you think of another way for the coppers to enforce the laws of the land and common sense re mobile phone/texting while driving?
The cops all get a bad wrap from the public, but the public are the first ones to call them for help. They have a fine line to ride/walk between doing the right thing by the public and the right thing by the law. If the coppers were not here, how bad would things be?

Only as a last resort I would ever call the police.. I was taught very differently from other people my age..

Don"t get me wrong they are a necessary evil... I am speaking about the cops who abuse power... Power corrupts and you can see it in the way they walk and the way they talk down to you.. And gone are the days of innocent until proven guilty the first thing they do if they suspect anything is put you in hand cuffs and then don't even apologize when they find nothing.. Hell an explanation as to why I'm sitting in cuffs would be good.. BUT those few push you they try to make you get angry... They insult you and help you "fall over" when you exercise your right to be silent... So what do they do? take you to the station all because why? Its within their power... Then they give you the run around over and over to buy time while they dig up every single little detail on your criminal record go through all your belongings and private phone messages and see who you call... And when they find nothing again they release you... And now your stranded.. (I could have sworn I read somewhere they are meant to drop you back at your vehicle but i have been wrong before) then as you leave they say smart arse comments to you like "we'll be keeping an eye on you"... Then to rub salt into the wound the vehicle you were picked up in gets pulled over for "license checks" and "random breathalyzers" a lot more then usual...

Not to mention the fact that it is up to the officer on the seen to interpret the law.. So you could think its within the law but if they say other wise its not...
Then of course you have all the videos popping up of cops using "due force" and other cops tell by standers to back off and defend the cop who is in the wrong...

I have had my share of good and bad cops.. But you will always remember the bad more then the good...

    End rant

I live in Perth and I am happy that these guys are out there doing what they are doing, if you have ever driven in Perth then you will know we have some of the worst drivers in Australia anything that makes the road safer for me and my family is wholly encouraged and supported.

I wish they would have something similar in Canberra. No one here knows what a blinker is or how to use a round about.

each state has different laws on round about.. Queensland you have to indicate on and off the round about.... while in Melbourne you don't have to indicate off... so if your going straight you dont have to indicate at all

Yeah but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what state you are in, if it is a 2 lane round about you can't just drive straight through cutting across the inside lane or enter in the right lane and change into the left as you exit.

I moved to canberra from Sydney and drivers here are so much worse.
They seem to think they have right of way in EVERY situation.

Each city has their own traits... people from Victoria are hoons and sit 10km above the speed limit and are in a hurry to get everywhere. then there is the hook turns.... it confuses alot of people.. you have to stay left to turn right.. .. people in Queensland sit 10km under the speed limit and think they are the only person on the road and are oblivious of somethings like indicating to change lanes... also they love to rubber neck and can not merge to save their lives.. I have only been to Sydney once and people love to use their horns for everything.. and the cab drivers will cut 4 lanes just to get a fare...lol

Well, what can I say? Here there are laws, but they are not enforced, as in not at all. Death is common http://asiancorrespondent.com/119892/study-thailand-roads-2nd-most-dangerous-in-the-world/
The amazing thing is that it functions at all. The video is light hearted and enough to give you some idea; without all of the gore and horror that is so common. Defensive riding takes on a whole new meaning here. What is really bizarre is that tourists, who do not normally ride motorcycles, come here, well not where I live, but down in the seedy tourist places, rent motorcycles, sometimes large sports bikes, and proceed to ride around with no helmet. Often for not very long. I think Aus is at the other end of the spectrum. There needs to be a middle ground somewhere.

I was reading a pamphlet at the police station the other day. It was regarding the new hoon laws. A first level offence (90 day impoundment for first offence) includes a vehicle making excessive noise or smoke.

and it all comes down to the office who is writing the ticket to interrupt the law.... hell a speeding ticket could turn into a vehicle impound if the cop says your hooning... also your ages come into play if your under 30 enjoy dealing with them
