Hey guys, hope you are all well, Im after a new paper air filter for my 3LN-3. I priced it at my closest yamaha dealer. Was $104 AUD. Has anyone found them cheaper? or do I have to suck it up and pay lol. Have a good one, Jarrad
The filter at my local Yamaha dealer is $95, I myself have not found an aftermarket replacement filter for them and I have checked with alot of the filter manufacturers, the one thing I do want to try is seeing if the fzr1000 filter is the same size as it is the same shape and the k&n is available. For anyone interested, the 3LN filter is: 3LN-14451-00-00
Man, thats costy as. I made mine out of some foam and chicken wire and i just oil it with dirtbike filter oil periodically. Alternatively, theres heaps of these available? Costly? That filter in your link has a RRP of $140 (NZ) which is approx $112 here, fair enough it might only be $48 AUD but I bet the intention of the seller was to get rid of old stock sitting on the shelf unmoved for quite some time. I would call it a lucky bargain instead of cheap.
Hahaha, sorry Trev. "Costy as" is a colloquialism/slang term me and my group of friends use for expensive stuff. Its sort of an intentional use of incorrect english. Haha, i had a good laugh when i saw your correction. You dont really take any notice of the local slang and phrases you use until its pointed out by someone else. You're definitely right about the price too. They've obviously got a bunch of them left over and are trying to move them on. Hahaha, they must have a heap too coz ive seen them selling pretty much all year.
I know that costly means expensive, I was asking how it can be costly when they retail for basically the same.

If they sell them at that price all the time then I would be happy to have one sent over here if it means I save 40 or so bucks. BTW, since you work in a bike shop can you grab an old fzr1000 panel filter (not can) and see how they compare to size to the 250 filter.
Probably a tad late, But Unifilter make an after-market filter for all FZR250 models. I got one today from Autobarn for $65, + $8overnight shipping. They seem good imo, plus you can re-use them unlike paper filters. Not overly finnicky either or easy to damage.
Is it the can type or the panel type, I could only ever find the can type, would be good if they do a panel. got a part number?
I just checked the website catalogue and I think I found the issue, they have a listing for: FZR250 - 88 - 90 NU2296 FZR250 - 91 - 98 UF300-190 My bike is a 90 model but would fall under the 91 - 98 filter because the early one is the can and I had always thought that they never did the panel filter. Armylad can you post a pic of your filter and thanks for letting me/us know about that.
hmmn cool, unifilter looks good, especially for $65. If you've got one in your 3LN, how does it run, will it mess with carb settings?
Yep, thats the one mate. The later model 3LN3. It is indeed a panel filter, and I will see how I go trying to put pics up for you all. ] Can't comment on this yet sorry. Waiting for a new sump bottom to arrive for my ride on "hopefully" Tuesday. I'm not to cluey about the carbs yet, but if I see a difference I will bost it up after I ride her again. About the filter: It has the same footprint as the stock one, but has other significant differences. This is mainly to do with how the WHOLE footprint of the Unifilter is a one piece foam construction, with a sort of hard plastic inner skeleton. So in terms of air flow abilities, it should let the carbs breath easier and will likely lean out the mixture (i am guessing here) When fitting it, the only seal between the edges of the airbox and the filter is simply the filter foam pressing against it. But it is such a perfect and tight fit (Tight in a good way) that this I'm sure will be more than adequate. From my reading, maintenance also seems piss easy.
