Where to buy FZR250 parts?

    Hey guys,

    Just been trying to get the roadworthy on my fizzer and been having trouble finding somewhere that supplies parts at a decent price?

    Yamaha want me to pay $200 a rotor for new front rotors, I can get rotors for a mercedes for half that price so I'm wondering who sells aftermarket parts?

    Something like rotors will be expensive....just dont buy chinese ones.

    For general parts the best way to hunt is the part number .... parts catalogue is in the resources section.
    I have part catalogues for the FZR400 for cross referencing ...if you want them send me your email address.

    Alots of parts are compatible from the FZR400 and things like o rings etc can be common over alot of the Yamaha products like ATVs , snowmobiles , jetskis etc ..... thats why part numbers are important.
    The number prefix will be different but the main number will be the match.
    Also things like bearings arnt Yamaha parts specifically...... your local bearing shop will cover things like that and usually very cheaply.
    The FZX250 Zeal is the "naked version" of the FZR.

    And u have to remember these bikes are grey imports into Australia.

    Brake rotors and sprockets are readily available aftermarket as they will usually cover a few different models.

    Ebay is a good starting point .... use ebay.com , not Aust ebay ... u will get better worldwide hits.
    I bought alot of bits from overseas .... sadly the Aussie dollar has dipped but if its a hard to get part then thats life.

    These guys dont have 250 specific parts but I bought alot from them cross referencing the part numbers.

    Legendary thanks guys,

    I'm not after dirt cheap chinese knock off parts but the yamaha price seemed a bit excessive. will keep you posted as to how it turns out.

    Exup cables are extremely hard to find new and can be expensive.
    An exup motor would be around second hand , but scarce also

    Give me time to see what I can track down

    As for the solder.
    You will be able to get the same thing in the States, no problem.
    Sn: 96.5% (Tin) Ag: 3.5% (Silver)
    I think I used to use a small butane torch when soldering with this material. Sorry, I am getting old.

    New here, but hope this helps. The EXUP cables for the 3LN grey import are part no. 3LN 1133E 00 and 3LN 1133F 00, you can't order these directly through Yamaha as they do not support grey imports

    however

    the YZF 1000 uses the same cables, with a substitution on the part no. 3LN 1133E 0100 and
    3LN 1133F 0100 and can be ordered through Yamaha. I have 4 FZR's... a 400 and three 3LN 250's and they do all sorts of weird things if the EXUP valve isn't working or even out of adjustment.

    Hi Phil, I just replaced a return cable, used one off one of the other FZRs, and was looking at trying to get replacements, no one makes after market stuff, and getting cables repaired is damn expensive... you're paying some techs labor time... so I rang Yamaha... the genuine numbers don't work (grey bike... go figure) so I went looking on the web... I need replacements for the 2 newer bikes now as this last one I replaced was the 3rd I've broken... it's not a problem with the valve... it's road grime... gets inside the cable... snap... I'll post up prices and a confirmation that they fit when I get a set through Yamaha.

    The cables should have a rubber dust cover at the valve /header end

    If you have broken 3 cables then u have a problem with your setup and /or u need to lube them internally.

    Exup cables are available from the UK but are pricey ..... I have dealt with a guy there and I think he was sourcing them from Japan.....its just that , yes, the shitty dealers here wont help with greys (not just FZRs)

    In saying that my local Yammy parts boy looks up the same Japanese parts catalogue that we have here and will get stuff if its available.

    there's no rubber dust boots on the cables (on any of the 4 bikes I have), (replacements may have) I have checked everything thoroughly when the first one broke, had the valve out and 'neverseize' on the bushings, triple check the adjustment every time I've replaced one, this is over 5 years of constant riding, everyday... trust me, its road grime breaking them, even with the chrome cover always in place. I made a new bronze bushing for the exup on the 400, which was welded in place, when I purchased it. Refitted the cables and it worked. I am qualified. :/
